We are a Southeast Michigan and Traverse City/Petoskey award winning carpentry, trim carpentry, acoustic ceiling, and drywall company. . Serving Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, Monroe, Livingston, Grand Traverse, Antrim, Emmet & Washtenaw Counties and beyond!

"Multi saved the day on my renovation project. It was absolutely disastrous! In the middle of my renovation, the carpenter that was referred to me by a fellow colleague walked off on the job. No warning and no reason, I was left with only ½ of my home remodeled, while my family and I were stranded in a small rental home waiting to return. Spencer and his team came to the rescue. In the matter of a few days his contractors were finishing projects and fixing several mistakes made by the previous carpenter. I was able to move back into our home on time without issue. Spencer’s people were clean, courteous and responsive. I would highly recommend him and his team to anyone who wants to get the job done right the first time. Thank you, Spencer, you are a real champ. Mike Sher, Max Broock Realtors, Associate Broker"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The best way to know if your beams still provide adequate support is to consult a structural engineer. Structural beams can crack and even sag over time but may still be structurally sound. Keep an eye out for signs of issues in your home, such as sagging floors or ceilings, major cracks in your ceiling and walls, or signs of water damage around a weight-bearing wall.

There are a few options if you miss a stud. You can simply patch the hole with spackle, sand it down, repaint it, and then find the stud—essentially starting over. If you don’t want to do that, you can insert one of the more robust drywall anchor options and hang your item on that, but that will only work if the drywall is in excellent condition and the anchor is rated for the weight of the item you’re hanging on it. You may be able to cover the hole with the object itself once it’s mounted, but it’s still recommended to at least fill the hole to protect insulation and prevent vermin from entering.

If the bowing basement wall is less than 2 inches, steel or carbon fiber straps are the best solution. For bowing that is more than 2 inches, wall anchors are the most effective. A contractor can help you decide the best method of repair for your home's foundation and also address the root cause of the trouble.

The most likely causes of a deck leaning to one side are damaged deck posts, soil erosion, and inadequate deck footings. If you’re not sure about the exact cause, the best option is to call a contractor who can build a deck to inspect the damage and recommend the best way forward.

House framing can be expensive because the materials are pricey, and the job requires a high level of expertise. The more complex the plans, the more expensive the job, but even the most basic frame needs to be installed with high-quality materials and precision. When pricing your home’s framework, remember that a sturdy frame is necessary to create a safe structure.
