Work involved plastering, painting, carpentry, insulation, carpet cleaning.
Workers were prompt, friendly, and professional, and all but one group cleaned area well afterwards. Project Manager John Smith may have been the key to a successful experience. He was particularly responsive and helpful.

Remediation was great. Professional and prompt. Restoration - broke stuff that wasn't broken; sub-contractors had to be replaced to fix things the first sub-contractors broke; several time I went to check the house (had to move out for about a week and a half) to find my door unlocked; still waiting on fixes for things that were broken during the restoration to be fixed four months later.

From the beginning we had issues with work not being done correctly and timely. Many days workers would only show up OR to use our bathroom as an outhouse, with no water. They rumaged through our closets and other rooms where they did not need to be. The sub floor had to be installed twice and there is still a 3/4 to 1 inch dip in the floor. They would not replace the the warped joists only shimmed them. The toliet in the half bath will not sit properly on the floor because the subfloor was not installed right. The insulation was not blown into the soffits were the frozen pipe occured. We have done a visual test and can prove the insulation was not blown into the soffits. Also new insulation was not attached inside the side walls where the drywall had to be replaced. The drywall was not professional prepared to be painted. They did a bad job of patching and sanding and painting the walls. We did not receive all of the cabinets or the correct cabinets that we ordered. The furnace was taken apart but not cleaned or re-installed correctly. They used old broken parts to put it back together. They drove a nail through a water line and we can't use the water until it is fixed by a plumber. Numerous emails and pictures were furnished to Signal and they were ignored. We have had two inspections done by a certified home inspector and submitted the report of poor, unsatisfactory workmanship to Signal. We locked Signal out of our home and advised them to cease all work. We are left with no countertops, no sinks or faucets, the wrong cabinets in the kitchen and half-bath a toilet that cannot be used, no insulation in soffits, insulation not attached in the walls. They also damaged our dining room light fixture, used towels from the linen closet as rags, broke a mini blind, damaged 2 doors and frames and moldings. The subfloor was not put back to the same level as before so it has affected our doors, jams and moldings.

However, it took a long time to negotiate the final estimate. It took even longer for Signal to finally finish the job. From the day of the fire to the day they ended, it was 4 months almost to the day. They didn't even start until 3 months after the fire, which felt like an incredibly long time when you don't have access to a kitchen. We were able to stay in the house the whole time, but that made it feel even longer. They were very responsive the day the fire happened, but once I signed the contract I didn't hear from them for over a month. They were good about answering my questions in a timely manner, and Kurt from Signal was amazing. All the painters, plumbers, and electricians were good as well, but the person in charge seemed to treat me like I wasn't a priority. Everyone that was supposed to be there was on-time everyday with just one exception. I found out that a friend of mine had her whole house completed by Serv Pro in 3 months after a closet fire caused $30,000 worth of damage, and I started to regret I hadn't used them instead. In fact, the whole ordeal has made me think about switching to All State for my homeowner'a insurance which was my friend's insurance and she was very happy with her results. I was happy with the final result, but if I hadn't been paying attention I would have been overcharged, and it took a long time.

THEY WERE EFFICIENT AND WANTED TO GET THE JOB DONE AND MAKE SURE I WAS PLEASED WITH EVERYTHING THEY DID. THEY REALLY WANTED ME TO BE HAPPY WITH THE WORK THEY WERE DOING.
