"They did an excellent job taking down huge branches off of trees for me that were very difficult. They were over hanging two houses and power lines they had to avoid. They are very confident about the work and did a great job on the clean up also. I very highly recommend this company. Also the price was great and the team worked well together and friendly. Couldn’t ask for better."

"Excellent work and follow through with very good communication throughout the job. They have also completed renovations on a rental unit and have done miscellaneous maintenance as well. Would definitely hire them again."

"I hired Josh to prove a 30 inch tree stump and trim some from 2 trees he was very polite and when asked about trimming another tree he told me it did not need it. His honestly was not just looking for more money . I would highly recommend him and will use his service again. David c. Schepis. Wish I could add pictures."

"The Drop Zone team was priced very comparable to 2 other quotes I received, they were able to schedule the tree removal 3 weeks earlier than the other quotes. The workers showed up on time, cut down the tree and other branches from a nearby tree that were hanging over my roof, protected my lawn and landscaping, did an excellent job of cleaning up the work site, and were personable to deal with."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Consumers typically do not need to worry about the cost of tree insurance, as professional tree service companies pay for their own coverage. For a tree service business, an average U.S. policy covering about $1 million in general liability costs roughly $40 a month or $500 a year. More extensive policies, providing between $500,000 to $2 million in coverage, can cost between $3,000 and $6,000 annually, depending on the company's size and scope of work. Tree service professionals should speak with an insurance company to determine the right plan for their business.

The best time to transplant a tree is when it is dormant. For many trees, this means either in the fall after the leaves have dropped (around October or November) or in early spring before new growth begins (around March). The ideal timing can depend on the type of tree. Deciduous trees do well when moved in early spring or fall, while evergreens are best transplanted in early spring or late summer. For example, pine trees are best moved in early fall, but maples prefer late fall. Avoid transplanting in winter, as the frozen or hard, cold soil poses a significant risk to the roots and prevents the tree from acclimating properly.

Yes, you can hire professionals to move a tree. Arborists and tree transplanting companies specialize in this type of work and use equipment like hydraulic tree spades to safely extract and relocate trees with their root balls intact. Since tree moving is a complex process, especially for larger trees, it’s best left to experts who understand how to protect the tree’s health and ensure the safety of everyone involved.

A few signs a tree may be dead is if the leaves are dead and there are no signs of new blooms. You can also perform a scratch test on some of the branches to check the condition of the cambium layer beneath the bark.

If it is green, it is still alive, but if several are dry, brittle, and brown, the tree may be dying or dead. Always consult an arborist before assuming your tree is dead because you may be able to save it.

If the roots are still alive, the dead tree will usually try to put out new shoots. That doesn’t mean the tree will survive or that the dead parts of a tree will come back to life. If parts of the tree have died and turned gray or rotten, nothing will bring them back to life and they need to be safely removed.
