"I can’t say enough good things about Olson Electric and Ron Olson. On the Friday of a holiday weekend, with a houseful of company, we discovered that our dishwasher had completely lost power. Not exactly the kind of problem you want heading into a busy weekend. I called Ron, and he came right over. He took the time to troubleshoot the issue, quickly diagnosed a fried circuit board, and helped us figure out the best path forward. We ultimately decided to purchase a new dishwasher, and Ron came right back the very same day to install it. That kind of responsiveness and service is almost unheard of these days. Ron was professional, knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly helpful from start to finish. Best service ever, and a genuinely super nice guy. I highly recommend Olson Electric."

"This company is obviously nationwide and hires local contractors. I trusted Agies List that all contractors are licensed, bonded and have background checks. This person was a handyman and not qualified to wall mount, conceal wires, add electrical outlet. He spend five hours in my home, for a job that should have taken two hours and left the area in a disaster. The TV was hung close to the ceiling, the wires were hanging down from the TV, and the receiver was sitting on top of a plaster box because the cord was too short. He was obviously not qualified to install TV wall mounts. I have photos. As soon as he left, I called Best Buy Geek Squad. They were able to come out the next day and mount the TV professionally. I have used the geek squad in Virginia and they are highly qualified. They charge more than this nationwide company but you get what you pay for. I called Angies List the day after the disaster and said i did not want to rate this company but I wanted to talk to a manager. No one called me to apologize. I have cancelled my membership. Do not use this company unless you can be assured that the local contractor is qualified and is licensed. You should never let anyone into your home that has not had background checks. "

Electrical projects in Iron River often uncover outdated wiring, like aluminum or knob-and-tube, which may require replacement. Upgrading grounding systems is common in older homes, and unexpected permit or inspection fees can arise. Weather delays, especially during heavy snow or ice, may extend project timelines. Utility connection upgrades or repairs to damaged exterior lines after storms are also frequent hidden costs in Iron River.
Helpful?
In Iron River, plugging space heaters or sump pumps into extension cords, ignoring outlets that feel warm, and leaving outdoor fixtures exposed to snow can all reduce your electrical system’s lifespan. Moisture from heavy snowfall or spring melt can seep into exterior boxes, so regular checks are crucial. Avoid DIY repairs without proper permits, as this can lead to insurance issues and future electrical failures.
Helpful?
In Iron River, electrical work can impact systems like forced-air furnaces, well pumps, or sump pumps, especially in homes with older wiring. If you notice lights dimming when large appliances run or circuit breakers tripping during cold snaps, your systems may be interconnected. Adding new circuits or outlets often requires careful load calculations to avoid overloading, which is particularly important in Iron River’s older housing stock.
Helpful?
For minor electrical issues in Iron River, always start by shutting off the correct breaker and confirming power is off with a voltage tester. When replacing outlets or switches, check for any signs of moisture or corrosion, especially after winter thaws. Inspect exterior boxes for ice buildup or weather damage, which is common in Iron River’s climate. For main panel work or outdoor wiring, contact a local professional.
Helpful?
Before starting electrical work in Iron River, confirm permit requirements and ask about inspection schedules to avoid project delays. Schedule underground utility locates if digging is involved, and have your current electrical system assessed for outdated wiring or weather-related wear. Plan projects for milder months to avoid snow-related setbacks, and order materials early, as Iron River’s remote location can mean longer delivery times for specialized parts.
