"I had one company come out to diagnose the problem. He quickly told me that the condenser outside was ruined and gave me a price to replace the unit. I called Toasty's and Michelle quickly got someone out to my house (it turned out to be the owner). He told me what was wrong and gave me an estimate. That’s because central air conditioning blends into the home easier than individual room air conditioners and typically has less equipment to maintain.

The average life span of an HVAC system is 15 to 20 years. Even if your old air conditioner is still functional, it isn't as energy-efficient as a newer system (especially one with an Energy Star designation). Older HVAC systems aren't as efficient, and the 10-year mark is when you should start making full system replacement plans. To reset your air conditioner, start by turning it off at the thermostat. Then, shut off power to the AC system at the circuit breaker.
