He also installed much safer handrails on the steps up from the street to the porch and corrected the unsafe side entry by installing a sturdy platform and step. He tried spray foam and tried to caulk over it. the foam reacted and bubbled out of the holes. He did not think to call his boss first and when he did the boss only wanted him to get it done and did not offer any solutions. The guy left and never came back."
