Small jobs welcome

"We had our sewage line collapse back in October and the company that replaced the line tore up our yard pretty hard. We hired RPM Excavation, LLC after getting a couple of quotes. They were not the least expensive but we're easy to work with and even came down to match the other price we had gotten. Matt was fantastic to work with. After they did the main grading, they had ended up leaving pretty big tracks in our yard. We called Matt because we didn't really have time to wait for it to pop back up as we were selling our house. He sent someone out to grade the tracks and we are super pleased with the end result. All around a great experience! Highly reccomend these guys!"

"Travis was knowledgeable and very hard working. He put in a dry well throughout my always flooded back yard. Really knew his stuff. Did everything in about 3 visits. Showed up and got everything done and no more flooding happening - very pleased!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Yes, professional installations include trenching or borehole drilling required for ground loops.

Downspouts should be buried at least 5 to 10 feet away from your foundation. This can vary depending on your local building codes, soil type, and property slope. The main goal is to ensure water is directed away from your foundation.

Trenching is a specific kind of digging. Trenching means digging a depression in the earth that’s deeper than it is wide, often with heavy machinery. Digging refers to any kind of removal of earth in order to create a human-made depression, hole, or cut in the earth’s surface. You can dig with big tools or even with just a hand shovel.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.

Call 811 to locate and mark the gas lines at least three days before digging. In many areas, you can dig within 18 inches of the lines, though in some locations, the distance may be further. Check local regulations, as you may need a utility company representative onsite when digging. Document your calls to 811 and precautions taken to avoid gas lines. A homeowner can be held liable for hitting a gas line in some cases, but contacting the proper authorities and following all guidelines can offer protection.
