Tanner Excavating

This was a big job for me. Tanner excavated a 15 foot by 4 foot by 8 foot deep trench in my front yard. The technical work done by Tanner was excellent. By the time they were done, the only difference in my front yard was the missing grass. The dirt was replaced perfectly. The guys who did the work were EXTREMELY pleasant to deal with. Could not have been nicer. They took great care to protect my plants and trees which were very close to the excavation area. I could NOT be more pleased with their work. The pricing was very reasonable and I got great value for my money.

I choose this company based on reputation, even though they were expensive. They did not adequately pack the fill, so that the front lawn has a valley, even though they returned once to add some dirt. Bigger problem is that their pipe under the road has failed and roots are clogging the pipe. I recognize that it is ourside of their one year warranty period, but I have been told that a properly laid and sealed PVC sewer line should not fail after only four and a half years. (My original Orangeburg lasted for over 55 years.) I called the company, but received no response. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Wonderful job. Everything that could have made this job difficult for Pat and his crew happened. But never made us feel like it was too much. I am sure this job cost his firm more than the estimate. But Pat refused to go above his original cost. Great company.

One worker was here by 7am to begin prepping while the rest of the crew showed promptly at 8am and they came prepared. Pat and his crew took on a very involved two and a half day job and made it look easy. He even managed to spare the two trees. Pat also discovered two minor problems inside our house that our 1st excavator either caused or missed. These minor problems would have eventually lead to some serious issues and Pat fixed them at no extra cost. I also noticed that when filling back the trenches Pat made a very nice grading along side our house. We were very pleased with the job that Tanner Excavating did and would highly recommend him to everyone. The next time I have a problem, Tanner Excavating will be the 1st on my list to call. Even my wife likes him, and she doesn't like anyone.

Friendly, courteous, hard working group. Answered all questions and made a most unpleasant home improvement tolerable. recommended these folks to other friends in our '50's neighborhood! Final inspection thorough.

Pat's team was very professional and thorough. Very clean and courteous. At the end of the project, the bill was for the exact amount we were quoted - no unexpected add-ons, and the price was $500 less than another quote we received. We were pleased with the quality of the work.

The only small negative is that our date for the project was moved around a few times as other projects took longer than expected or emergencies for other clients came up. I didn't really mind - I think this is par for the course in working with a good independent tradesman, and if it were my sewer line with the emergency, I'd appreciate being prioritized! But, if you might have a difficult scheduling and changing time off work for a project, you may want to consider this.

We were in a jam when another company we had worked with stretched out a sewer replacement job for over 6 weeks. The work was just not getting finished. Furthermore, we needed it to be done before we sold and closed on the home. Ultimately, the initial company got the sewer work done but left us with only a couple days to get the landscaping done. Pat Tanner was at my doorstep within hours of my call to give me an estimate and had the work done within hours of when I gave him the go ahead. The two gentlemen who completed the work were kind, hard working and good-natured, despite the uncomfortably hot weather. Pat stopped by personally later that evening to make sure the work had been done to our satisfaction. In the process, I had conversations with Pat where I came to trust that this was a very honest man who had raised a company based on integrity. I cannot tell you how much I have come to appreciate honesty and integrity. Unfortunately, we went through quite a nightmare with the first company. Pat Tanner restored my belief that there are people out there who not only want the work but will gain it honestly and respectfully. This is a man and company who I completely trust.

Pat was prompt, gave an excellent quote, and the work started on time and was completely quickly. The crew was great, and answered all my questions and were very friendly. Tanner called MissDig, coordinated the permit with the city and handled pretty much everything so it was quite painless. We had an old tree that we were concerned about preserving and they were very careful with it. We could not have had a better experience.
