Trust Gelinas. As one of Maine's premier business success stories, Gelinas HVAC Services, Inc. was founded by William Gelinas and Brian McLellan, in 1994 and has experienced steady and solid growth ever since. That growth allows Gelinas to continually expand our services in a way that exceeds expectations of the most discriminating homeowner as well as the most demanding commercial clients. Locally owned & operated. Cost is determined by the job. Service fees may apply. Flat rate for routine service inspections. Additional email - [email protected]. Additional contact names - William Gelinas. Brand - Maytag. Additional service areas - Hollis Center, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Ocean Park, Old Orchard Beach, Scarborough, Raymond, Saco, South Freeport, Standish, Steep Falls, Waterboro, Westbrook, Buxton, West Kennebunk, Yarmouth, Portland, Falmouth, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Durham. Award winning.

"Very well. Needed a water heat within 4 weeks (so I didn't need to buy more oil and it was installed in 10 days from initial contact. Delivery and install timely, professional and they were very careful to manure the water heater carefully through the house and down very narrow basement stairs and around corners. They listened carefully to my requests, confirmed and kept me informed. The install and plumbing was professionally done and quicker than expected considering the running of new copper lines. Re the post below: I also had hot water off the furnace and was planning on shutting the furnace down. They told me they'd leave the furnace connected to make sure everything worked and was running properly because it took 2 hours to get the water to temperature. When you shut a furnace down you should know that it'll take a service call to start it up again. (It's not a car). I shut mine down 72 hours after install and hope to never try and have it restarted! :-) PS Heat pumps rock! My only criticism is they did not tell me anything about the warranty. I already sort of knew but the paper warranty included with the manual would seem to be all you need when you actually have to go online and register it. Some people wouldn't know that. They did explain/show where the filter was and how to clean it. The office staff was helpful even though I called multiple times for info. Like everyone right now they are swamped with calls and new business and short handed at times. Overall ery happy with my choice of companies!"

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Propane is more cost-efficient than natural gas on a per-unit basis because it produces twice as much heat energy as an equivalent amount of natural gas. But propane is not ideal if you already have a gas line installed. The best choice for your home depends on the efficiency of your appliances and the amount of installation required of your fuel choice.

If you sense a gas leak or are upgrading your appliances, it’s best to hire a gas engineer to disconnect the gas stove for you and conduct any other necessary inspections and repairs. While it is easy to disconnect the gas stove yourself, you may not be qualified to complete what needs to be done next. Gas is also harmful to the human body. Therefore, a trained professional is more suitable to handle any gas-related problems.

No, you shouldn't cap a gas pipe with a compression fitting because they aren't designed for gas lines and can pose serious safety risks. Gas pipes require threaded caps that create a secure, leak-proof seal capable of handling gas pressure. Using a compression fitting could lead to dangerous gas leaks—a hazard you definitely want to avoid.

Some natural gas furnaces can be converted to propane with a conversion kit, but not all models are compatible. Consult a licensed HVAC pro to determine if conversion is possible and cost-effective for your system. The process involves changes to burner orifices and safety controls, and must be completed to code.

Before you hire a natural gas plumber, it’s a good idea to get quotes from multiple pros to find the best value. When speaking with prospective plumbers, ask them if they’re licensed to work with gas lines, what precautions they take to ensure safety during the project, and how to handle an emergency if there’s a leak after the job. You may also want to know about warranties or guarantees, additional costs, how to prep your home, and if you’ll need to relight your pilot lights.
