The entire Dog House staff and crew were consummate professionals--we couldn't have asked for a better experience from start to finish! Our neighborhood had natural gas lines run into it, and we wanted to convert our heating system from oil to natural gas as soon as the opportunity presented itself. Our boiler was very old and wouldn't support a conversion (per manufacturer specs I found on the web), which meant we needed to replace the boiler and connected water heater.
John came out to give us the initial estimate and continued to oversee things through the entire process. We had estimates from five different companies, and Dog House not only came in with the best price, but they were the one that took the most time to explain all of our options rather than just push what was most expensive, answer the many questions that we had, and made it clear that they wanted us to be comfortable with the process and have a full understanding of the project. We immediately felt his earnestness and knew he cared about providing the best possible service, at the best possible price...and he definitely did not let us down in any way! He even told us all about the different energy efficiency rebates and credits that were being offered, so we could consider those in our decision process about which types of systems we would install.
The natural gas company ran months behind schedule, which caused our installation to be delayed into late January--which is hardly the ideal time to change heating systems, and as such they don't normally do installations past December. Even so, they agreed to work later into January to help us get the project complete, even though it ultimately meant finding a milder day (so the pipes wouldn't freeze) and a 13 hour day of work for them, instead of spacing things out over 1.5 days (so the heat could stay on). This was greatly appreciated, as it's going to save us at least $1000 in heating costs to have gas over oil for the rest of this winter.
Ryan and Gavin did the majority of the actual installations of our water heater and boiler, and left the place as clean (if not cleaner!) than they originally found it. They were quite professional and always friendly. There were a few minor hiccups after installation that required some adjustments--for example, the boiler had a faulty part (came to Dog House that way)--but John and Gavin were very, very quick to respond and got everything working perfectly in no time.
In addition to the actual project work, Maria and Robyn in the office were incredibly helpful and responsive to any questions we had regarding scheduling (and rescheduling because of the gas company delays), and quickly provided us with all of the paperwork that we needed to submit rebates requests.
We're hoping to purchase and install a gas stove sometime later this year, too, and when we do, we'll definitely call Dog House to do the job. Can't recommend them highly enough!
