"I hired Pete to install drywall after a bedroom renovation. I do my own home improvements but was in a hurry to get this project done. Pete and his crew completed the job quickly. He was punctual and courteous and he went out of his way to make sure the work area was clean and that I was happy with the end results before accepting final payment."

"Very service oriented honest which is rare these days on both counts . Showed up when he said he was going to to do a quote and the very next day he came out and fix the roof. Also took a look at a couple other things that other roofers said needed to be done which they didn't . Also fixed a rain spout at no extra charge. Very nice guy! again I appreciate the honesty thank you Mark"

"Hector and his team did a great job repairing holes in drywall and painting 2 rooms. When they first arrived, they spent about 30 minutes taping brown paper on the floor and installing plastic on the steps from the front door to the two work areas located on separate floors. When they were finished, they removed all the paper and plastic and vacuumed. Also, they arrived a little early both days and waited by their vehicle until 8 a.m. Best service we’ve received in a while."

"If there was a better rating than "Very Good", I would give it to JPZ Contracting. They are very conscientious, very efficient, and very knowlegable in their work. They go the extra mile. Besides the quality of their work, they always left everything clean before leaving each day. They were curteous and respectful of the members of our family. It was a great pleasure to have them do the remodel. The results were magnificent. My Bathroom is amazing!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

Plaster can be a difficult DIY to master, especially if you plan to plaster an entire room, rather than patch a small area. Before you begin a plaster DIY project, you need to know which tools and type of plaster to use. It's also important to know how to prepare the surface and apply the plaster for a smooth finish. If that all sounds like a lot of work, you may prefer hiring a local plaster repair contractor to do the job.

When you are learning how to tape and mud drywall, waiting for things to dry requires a lot of patience. So how long does drywall mud take to dry? On average, it takes about 24 hours. However, it depends on things like the thickness of the mud, as well as the room’s temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Using thin layers of mud in a warm, low-humidity room with good airflow reduces average drying time. You also could speed up drying time by making use of hot drywall mud, which consists of a powder that you mix with water, instead of using pre-mixed mud.

It is more difficult to drywall a ceiling than it is to drywall a wall, but not so hard that DIYers can’t tackle it. One of the main issues with hanging drywall on your ceiling is getting it into place. Drywall isn’t light so, if you are hanging full drywall panels, you will need at least two (it’s better with more) people to hold the panel while you drill it into the ceiling as a single piece can weigh between 40 and 60 pounds and will need to be held in place for up to 10 minutes.

How you hang the drywall can affect the finishing process. It's often easier to finish horizontal drywall panels, as the seams run across the wall rather than up and down. Standard drywall panels are 48 inches wide, so the seam is easy to reach without bending down or stretching your arms.
