"James from JZ Construction LLC was phenomenal. Not only was he transparent in his quote pricing, he moved some things around to make sure the job got done on our schedule. The tile work was beautiful and well done. The rebuild took a day less than we had planned. He even helped connect us with an electrician and repaired the cuts in the drywall done by the electrician. He and his team were amazingly nice. James went above and beyond. Will hire again for future jobs!"

"MD Pro Wash did an excellent job of power washing my deck. They were accommodating, prompt, neat and careful. Best of all, they paid special attention to a LIGHT wash on my CEDAR DECK with the proper equipment. Definitely would recommend!"

Small jobs welcome

"⸻ I had the pleasure of working with Jesse to install a glass door right before a major snowstorm, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Jesse was punctual, professional, and did an excellent job under pressure. He made sure everything was perfectly installed and secure, even with the impending weather. I highly rrecommend Jesse for any handyman work!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Some painters will repair minor drywall damage. For repair work of any kind, it’s a good idea to hire the professional required for the job. Many painters will have the materials on hand and can add them to the total cost. While you may save some money, there is a chance the work will be subpar compared to a professional who specializes in drywall.

The tool you use to sand plaster will depend on the size of the project. If you’re just working on a small section of your wall to get rid of an uneven spot on the surface, hand-sanding might work. However, for larger projects, a drywall sander can make a huge difference when it comes to both time and elbow grease—and an orbital sander can help for detailed areas such as around ceiling fans.

If the holes in the plaster are small, you can fill them with layers of patching plaster until they’re filled. After it dries, you can sand the plaster and paint over it. If the hole is much larger, consider using bonding plaster first and then a layer of patching plaster, completing the process with sanding and a layer of paint.

While certain types of textured walls can seem dated (looking at you, popcorn), textured walls are a common sight in both older and more modern homes. The main reason textured walls may be here to stay is that they are an excellent way to hide minor imperfections on a wall and give it a finished appearance. Some homeowners think a coat of paint on drywall is a bit industrial-looking. However, that look works perfectly in modern home design

Yes, you can hammer a nail into a wall stud. But before you do, it’s important to confirm that you’re actually nailing into a stud—and not wiring, pipes, or ductwork. To check, find a few more studs in the wall, then measure to make sure they’re either 16 or 24 inches apart.
