"James from JZ Construction LLC was phenomenal. Not only was he transparent in his quote pricing, he moved some things around to make sure the job got done on our schedule. The tile work was beautiful and well done. The rebuild took a day less than we had planned. He even helped connect us with an electrician and repaired the cuts in the drywall done by the electrician. He and his team were amazingly nice. James went above and beyond. Will hire again for future jobs!"

"I recently hired them for painting the walls in 3 rooms in my new home, and I am very satisfied with the exceptional service they provided. Not only were they affordably priced and adhered to their initial estimate, but they also accommodated my tight schedule, completing the project on the only day I could spare. The quality of their work exceeded my expectations, showcasing their expertise and attention to detail. Communication was seamless, with prompt and responsive interactions whenever I reached out. "Hired All Things New for a multi part project: identifying source of a 2nd floor leak, fixing it, and replacing ceiling/drywall below. Willie (owner) promptly came to assess the situation without jumping to conclusions. He offered a quick estimate and was able to do the repair within the week. He and his employees worked hard, were respectful, and cleaned up the entire works pace when finished."

"The information provided on the first phone call was detailed on the process of re-glazing and the prices. Work started promptly and was finished in about 3 1/2 hours. The bathtub looks new again. The man who did the work was very professional. I did have to call them due to some sharp points on the non-slip surface, however, they came back out in a couple of days to buff out the points and re-apply a coat to the bottom of the tub. Now it's perfect! THANKS!"

"I hired Copper Penny to do drywall and tiling. Wes was very professional. Arrived on time everyday and worked diligently to complete the tasks. Work was top notch 10/10 and the price was more than fair for the quality of work. After job was complete Wes left an immaculately clean work site. Highly recommend! Very easy to contact by phone or text and worked around my schedule to get the job done. Will definitely be calling Copper Penny for all my home Improvement needs."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You should always hang drywall from the top down. Starting at the top makes it easier to create a straight, tight line between the ceiling and the wall. Any gaps that occur will be at the bottom, where they are easier to manage. You can either cut the bottom piece of drywall to fit the remaining space or cover the gap with baseboard trim. Additionally, starting at the top is physically easier, as you won't have to fit the top sheet into a tight space between the lower sheet and the ceiling, or try to balance the upper sheets on the lower ones while securing them.

Fixing ceiling nail pops involves similar steps to wall repair, with the major difference being the orientation of the work. Ceiling nail pops can be more challenging because you may need to work overhead, which can be physically demanding and require additional safety precautions. Additionally, the ceiling may have different materials or finishes, such as textured surfaces, which can affect the repair process. Otherwise, the fundamental steps are the same.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

Yes, drywall can hold a 50-pound TV. However, when mounting a TV, you’ll either need to attach it to wall studs or use drywall anchors. If you use anchors, make sure to buy a type that can hold at least 50 pounds. Molly bolts, threaded anchors, and toggle bolts are all good options. For extra support, you can also install a wall mounting plate with the anchors.

Whether you need a drywall anchor depends on the specifics of your project, particularly what you're hanging and where. You do not need a drywall anchor if you can screw or nail the object directly into a wooden stud, as the wood provides sufficient support and stability. However, if there are no studs in the location where you plan to hang the item, you should use drywall anchors to ensure it is securely supported. For very lightweight objects, like small pictures, adhesive picture hanging strips can be a suitable alternative to anchors.
