Outstanding work by Mike and the team. They arrived exactly on time for the estimate and I loved that they had an iPad ready to show high quality photos of similar projects as we walked around the site. I had the estimate for the project 90 minutes after they left and the work was scheduled and completed two days later. Mike was extremely responsive via email and the system he is using made it very easy to complete payment. After dealing with other contractors that took weeks to produce and estimate this was such a better experience

  • Mottern Masonry Design

The Mottern Masonry team did an excellent job. Jeff Mottern came to the site and advised on the design of the patio and steps, and the type and size of stone suitable for the project. The workers, under the direction of George, were punctual, very hard-working, and did an excellent job. We are very happy with the results

  • Anthony & Sylvan Pools
    5.0
In 2019 we decided on buying an inground pool. Jeremy Siebert was our salesman but ended up also being our project manager as he was so responsive to any of our enquiries. Jeremy checked on our pool regularly, interacted with our county when they had queries, and hurried the sub contractors along. The pool was completed in time for a huge celebration that we had arranged. Anthony Sylvan were aware of the date, and Jeremy was the person who made it all happen on time. We are thrilled with our pool. It has provided endless fun luncheon, and get togethers. Our association with Anthony Sylvan has not ended. We signed up for the Winterization contract. They opened our pool on time and closed it up again for winter. We give them 5 stars!!

In two words: highly satisfied Here's what we needed done: a) Fix all cracks in mortar of patio wall b) Fix stone steps that had sagged like 3 inches away from the house c) Repair entire walking surface, which had begun to sag in spots and whose mortar was half gone. The total job involved pulling up all the pavers, destroying the entire existing foundation, pouring a new foundation (including a 16" pit of concrete below the foot of the steps: "those steps will never move again" we were told), laying the pavers back down (including new ones to replace the 50% of ones that got broken when pulling them up), deconstructing the steps, reconstructing the steps, recapping the patio walls and repairing all mortar cracks in the patio walls. They ended with an "acid wash" which brought out the color in the stone as if it were brand new. We interviewed 4 different companies before hiring Mottern. While their prices were highest, the margin was small (about 5% above others), but well worth it. Highlights: - Jeff Mottern spent 2 hours with me during the estimation process, discussing what we needed done, offering solutions, and generally making me comfortable that this company knew their stuff - They wrote up a detailed contract with exact prices and services to be performed - They estimated one start date, but then when I signed the contract they tried to move it to two weeks later. When I explained that this would overlap with my time out of town they worked with me to find another start date that was within a few days of the original estimate. - The workers were phenomenal. Working in 95 degree weather from about 7 am until late afternoon. A crew of 3 was always on site. Half the job was deconstruction, the other half re-construction. When it came to re-construction, they brought in a new crew member who must've been a master mason, because his stonework was impeccable! - Because one issue was steps sagging from the house (letting rain get in and rot wood), they arranged for a carpenter to come in, mid-job, and repair the rotten wood between stair-deconstruct and stair-reconstruct. - They had to work around existing lighting and electrical cables that ran under and through the existing patio, and did so without any issues. For the sake of being genuine, if I had to find one flaw it was that, as I had concerns or questions throughout the job, it sometimes took 1-2 days before I got an answer back from Guy (their "answer guy"). Thankfully this didn't lead to any issues, but it would've made me less nervous to have immediate responses. In the end, we are thrilled with the work they did, and would recommend them for any masonry work

  • JP Companies Inc
    5.0
Paulo Nicolau and his crew recently completed a concrete driveway and CMU divider wall demo and rebuild. The also parged the wall and reset the pavers in my patio. Of the numerous contractors I have spoken to regarding this project, JP Companies presented the best in terms of cost, warranty, design, materials, reputation, and personnel. The project planning started last Autumn, but as we finalized details the weather grew too cold for concrete work. Paulo, however, stayed in touch over the winter, advising on possible upcoming scheduling and answering numerous questions regarding care, maintenance, materials, warranty specifics, contract options, etc. When the weather finally let up they completed the work efficiently, working long days, including a Saturday, cleaning up after themselves every time, and working in a fashion presenting minimal disturbance to other parts of my property and neighbors' properties. They also managed unforeseen issues with a utility provider. The individual masonry workers did good work, finding areas not originally scoped but in need of little fixes and doing so. And, the one time the opposite occurred, i.e., they forgot to do something, Paulo had them out the next day removing the mistaken work, and redoing the area to specification. On the day before the last, I noticed literally less than a handful of old bricks near the project area which needed repointing and Paulo had his masonry worker come out and do it the next morning. In these instances, when some others might have, not so much for the materials, but for the extra labor hours, no extra cost was added to our contract. Overall, JP Companies, Inc. provided great service and workmanship, educated their customer so that informed decisions could be made and maintained a professional but friendly and warm demeanor throughout. I would definitely recommend them

  • Mottern Masonry Design

Mottern did an exceptional job on our project and we are absolutely delighted with the results. I highly recommend them for any masonry work you may be considering. From our initial meeting with the estimator (Jeff), working project logistics with the back office (Guy), to the actual installation and working with the crew; the entire process went very smoothly. Mottern’s team is very professional and polite; they worked collaboratively with us to achieve our vision. We were very impressed with the skill, craftsmanship, and attention to detail demonstrated by the installation team; truly first rate. Our project consisted of upgrading the look of our front stoop, replacing and changing the layout of the main entrance walkway, and adding a curved gardening wall at the corner of the house. After speaking with Jeff about our design ideas and options, we selected Pennsylvania blue stone for the stoop and walkway and a weather face stone for the garden wall. During installation, Mottern worked with us as we made adjustments to our initial design and pattern so that in end, our project turned out even better than we initially envisioned

  • East Coast Landscape Design
    5.0
I hired East Coast Landscape Design to take care of a sump pump drainage problem under my deck, as well as install a stone patio under the deck. They did a wonderful job with both. Mark designed the project and answered any questions I had. He provided all the necessary information and design plans to obtain approval for the project from my homeowners association. Katie was very helpful with scheduling, billing and answering gereral questions. Roberto and crew did a great job installing the patio and cleaning up afterwards. The patio looks great and the drainage issue has been taken care of. I wold definitely hire them again and/or recommend them to a friend
