Pavers and Hardscaping Service
This is Mr. Trumans response, when I let him know we would not be using his company due to the lack of meeting deadlines:
Scott,
We had you tentatively scheduled to do your backyard before the 19 of July, but I never felt comfortable that you were going to use us. When you asked us to send the design via email and not meet with me to go over the project, I got the feeling that you were going to take our design with the price estimate I gave you and " shop it "...I think your decision not to use us may have validated my thoughts,
Hope I'm wrong about you, but...
Regards,
Truman
To answer Mr Truman - My wife and I very much liked our first meeting with him and NEVER went out to get another quote since we felt comfortable with him. We had every intention on using his services until today. He had never mentioned about meeting in person to go over the design prior to today. He kept telling us I will get you the design as soon as I get it from my designer.
If he told us upfront that he likes to meet in person once the design is complete...that is another story. It just seemed like another road block with him.
I will be sure to update with pictures when I find the 'correct' person to do the job to show Mr. Truman the job he lost out on because of his lack of being able to keep to dates that he sets.

Pavers and Hardscaping Service
Mr. Truman Kemp's Coastal Carolina Hardscapes crew did an excellent job of installing approximately 160 square feet of Pine Hall Old Mill pavers on the entrance to my driveway. I paid Mr. Kemp a bonus of $100 and his men $80. Less than two months later, I called Mr. Kemp who came over to look at approximately 30 pavers that had developed chips since installation. He said the lot of pavers was defective, and that he would replace all the pavers with different pavers. He then brought over samples of different pavers for us to select the replacement from, which we did. After several weeks, he said the brick company would not provide him with replacement pavers, so he was turning the problem over to his liability insurance company. I heard nothing from him until his December 5, 2011 response to my querying email, "My insurance won't cover the damaged brick. They were suppose (sic) to call you. I can replace the existing broken ones only. Truman." I never heard anything more from him, and, to date, no pavers have been replaced.Mr. Kemp's Coastal Carolina Hardscapes contract with me reads as follows: "We guarantee our products against manufacturing defects and our quality workmanship for a period of one (1) year from date of project completion." Coastal Carolina Hardscapes came to me with a high recommendation; the promise of an excellent installation covered by insurance; a warranty against defective pavers; and a promise to replace defective pavers. Coastal Carolina Hardscapes, the brick company, and his insurance company ultimately left me holding the bag.
