"The service from Bamford Plumbing & Heating Inc. went great.  He kept his scheduled appointments and had no need to come back because he did everything 100% the first time through.  He is a general plumber, but his knowledge of boilers was exceptional, I learned a lot."

"Everything done exactly right, on schedule (ahead of what I was expecting). AJB quoted a Columbia boiler, which cost a little more than the others, but I believe will be worth it. Worked almost 13 hours the first day and a couple more the next day to get the job done. Cleaned the area and ensured everything was operating properly."

"Replaced both my compressor and air handler which was nearly 50 years old, rewired and plumbed everything, added and removed ducting as needed to provide a clen install. Team was fast and professional During the initial quote/Inspection worked with me to understand my cooling needs and did not ty to upsell me. Scheduling was quick and they were even able to move up my install date. I would recomend them to anyone."

"Sam and Chad did a wonderful job clearing the tub drain, installing new faucets in the bathrooms, installing a new shower head, and other projects. They double checked their work and answered any questions I had. While they need to come back next week to do a small part of the whole project, they were honest about what piece of equipment they thought would work, but would not. They were efficient, professional, and pleasant to be around. They made my day."

"Great install team! A bit of a hiccup when they arrived which they quickly resolved. Pre-install responses could have been better at times. Ductless mini-splits are costly but it's delivering! Hopefully, long term I'll be glad I did it."

"Lowery Heating,Air & Construction is a well organized company. The owner, Mr.Lowery is very hands on and extremely knowledgeable combined;with years of experience. The boiler that he constructed is beautifully made. He also saw the need in servicing of our hot water heater and installed a new one as well. We are extremely confident in this companies serving and construction needs from careful observation first hand. You will be in good capable hands on any construction project of this kind. We highly recommend this company and will suggest this companies'services to others if the need arises. It had been a pleasure to recommend this company today."

"Technician was prompt and polite. However, he did not take the time to explain the issues to me as the second company we hired did. Probably not a reflection on his capabilities, but we know. Also, quote for replacement was $2500 more than competition."

"This review should probably be three separate reviews, but I think it shows my trust in Vernon using him multiple times. He came out to give me a quote on a new gas water heater and relocating it about 8 feet over in the basement. The price was reasonable and he provided me the water heater information so I could see it's reviews beforehand. While installing my water heater, my tenant called and said the AC was not working. So, after completing the install and his other stops that day, Vernon went over later that day to take a look. The repair required a new part, so a few days later he repaired the AC and I had him replace a leaking pressure valve while he was there. About a month later, a house I renovated needed some repair work on a leaky drain before settlement (he was not the initial installer). Vernon went into that crawlspace and repaired the pipe and provided the appropriate documentation so we could get to settlement in time. I had Hamilton Plumbing and HVAC do work at my home, my rental, and then my house flip. I plan to have Vernon come back to run a gas line when I install a gas fireplace and again when I do my basement bathroom."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

The most important sign of a boiler problem is something happening unexpectedly, which is why regular boiler maintenance is important. Unexpected problems can include strange smells, new leaks, and unexpected noises that your boiler wasn’t making before. Additionally, if a boiler keeps shutting off or can’t maintain a specific temperature range, it’s time to call in an expert.

Yes, most municipalities require a permit for propane boiler installation to ensure safety and code compliance. Permit fees vary by location and are often included in your installer’s quote, as they’ll handle the permitting process. Ensure that you always check local regulations before starting your project to avoid fines or delays.

To figure out if your boiler is worth repairing or if you need to replace your boiler, first figure out how old the unit is. Boilers last 15 to 20 years, so if your unit is 15 years old or older, it may be better to replace the entire thing depending on the severity of the problems. If it’s not quite that old, then it’s probably worth repairing. Another thing to consider is whether your warranty covers any of the repair costs. If so, it may be worthwhile to repair your boiler to keep it running.

Costs depend on unit size, labor, fuel type, and whether additional piping or venting is needed.

Some high-quality steam boilers come with 10-year warranties, but a well-installed, properly maintained model can last at least 20 to 25 years. Learning how to clean a boiler, getting an annual professional service, and keeping up with maintenance and repairs on your heating system are all important for getting the most out of your model.
