"Basement Remodeling just completed our basement remodeling project, on time and on budget. We couldn’t be more pleased! We investigated other remodeling companies but chose Basement Remodeling after our discussions with Eric, in part because we believed we could count on their expertise in handling the inevitable quirks of renovating a 70 year old house. Our project (and budget) was probably fairly modest when compared to many remodeling projects, and Eric offered suggestions for inexpensive problem solving (rehanging existing doors, for example) rather than trying to upsell us on other, more costly solutions. We fully renovated about one-third of the basement space which included the furnace, water heater and a small but completely unfinished laundry area. Basement Remodeling created an enclosed area for the furnace and water heater and neatly disguised the electric panel, adding a well-designed, efficient and attractive wet bar with cabinetry, appliances and a custom pantry. The renovation also included cosmetic upgrades to the rest of the basement space, adding new flooring and fresh paint. The space now looks absolutely terrific! The company took care of everything, from permitting to cleanup, and every person on the team was thoughtful, responsive and a pleasure to work with. Any concerns we had along the way were addressed immediately and quickly resolved to our satisfaction. We highly recommend Basement Remodeling!"

"DO NOT HIRE!!!!!!! Completely unprofessional, BEWARE. They did a terrible job, and made a dent in the sink they installed and did not even mention it. They knew about the dent and tried to hide it. The caulking was also a disaster. They left a mess and did not clean up before leaving. They also didn't turn the water tightly shut enough and caused the water to leak and in the middle of the night came down stairs to find a large portion of the dry wall from the ceiling collapsed and ruined the entire carpet in the basement and our new furniture. We called them the next day to let them know and they responded that they did not cause the leak even though it is very clear that they did. I wish I never hired them. The project manager I spoke to on the phone, Jamal, was rude and very unprofessional. I would never recommend them! If I could give them 0 stars I would."

"STAY AWAY!!!! This Company cancelled the initial estimate on me 3 times making me drive 90 minutes to the property each time. They finally showed and gave me the typical hard sell "if you sign the contract today..." They gave us a quote so far over market value we should have walked away. But we agreed because of the "70 year history in the industry" We thought we were buying a service from a company with integrity. They took an immediate $18K deposit on a $55K project. I know, shame on me for agreeing to such an amount. We knew we were over spending, but... One month later, they simply cancelled the contract without explanation and without any work on the project. This contract was binding on us but, in their words, was not binding on them because "there's a clause in the fine print that allows them to cancel" THEY STILL HAVE OUR MONEY and I STILL NEED A ROOF Stay away from this company. "JES left my home in worse shape and won’t return my calls to come repair the damage left. I reached out to them to install a joist support system under my kitchen so that I can renovate this year. There were floor joists under the back door that had been cut during a renovation about 30 years ago. JES installed a jack system but then left my foundation under the door where you can literally see daylight from the basement. I brought this up to the crew before they left late Friday night (they worked long hours just to “finish” without even asking me if it was okay to trap me at home that late), and the lead just shrugged at me. Shortly after they left, it rained, and sure enough, water poured into my electrical room and all over the freshly poured concrete. I called Friday night, sent an email and text with videos, and called today 3 times. Each time the “production manager” is “busy.” Before this, they were perfectly capable of blowing up my phone to see if I could schedule sooner. JES is seriously lacking in work planning and professionalism."

"Avoid Guardian Basement – False Promises and Poor Customer Service Two years ago, I hired Guardian Basement to fix a water issue on the front wall of my basement. Joel came out, sold me on their system, and guaranteed I would have a dry basement. We also replaced two sump pumps and had the sump well dug deeper. The main selling point was their lifetime guarantee. Fast forward two years, and I have the exact same problem. Every time there is significant rain, water rushes through the same wall. I reached out to Guardian Basement, and Joel scheduled a time to check it out. His tone was completely different this time—defensive and dismissive. Within five minutes, he claimed, “Your system is clogged.” He made this assessment without any real inspection—just by looking at the cement floor and wall. Now, here’s the catch: If you look closely at their so-called lifetime warranty, clogs are not covered. So despite spending thousands of dollars, I’m back to square one. To make matters worse, Joel was incredibly condescending and unpleasant to deal with. After this experience, I looked into their licensing with the state of Maryland and found multiple complaints against them. I am now in the process of submitting my own complaint as well. I would never recommend Guardian Basement to anyone. Save your money and go with a company that truly knows what they are doing and stands behind their work. If I could give them a negative number of stars I would."
