Brendan Works, LLC. (BDW) is a small minority owned iron works firm headquartered in Temple Hills, Maryland. We are licensed in Maryland, Virginia and in the District of Columbia. BDW employs talented iron workers and certified construction engineers dedicated to satisfying our customer’s requirement for solutions to their designed-based needs. BDW specializes in miscellaneous metals, decorative design as well as stairways and rails.

"I contacted Brendan Works to get a quote to replace my Capitol Hill townhome's rusted-out metal staircase. I wanted something that would fit with the classic look of the neighborhood, while being durable and solid. I was in a hurry, because I needed the stairs to go in before we moved some furniture and scheduled another contractor for a separate service. Communication: The owner Daniel was extremely responsive - we spoke on the phone, texted, and emailed when necessary. He worked around my schedule to get a quote and then to get the work done in a fast-turn, narrow time window. He was always pleasant and efficient. Quality: The stairs and rails look really, really nice and feel really solid. They seamlessly removed my crumbling old stairs. The welding looks really smooth. They found salvage components to create the classic Capitol Hill look with the rails, even though I couldn't describe exactly what I wanted, they absolutely hit the mark based on some pictures I sent them. Price: Really competitive. Daniel looked at the components of the structure that were in good enough shape to remain, instead of ripping out everything - and that saved us a ton of money. I had assumed it would all need to come off the house and they could have easily charged me a lot more. I would definitely work with Brendan Works again and recommend them to friends who are looking for a solid welding company."

Metal Fabrication and Restoration questions, answered by experts

General contractors use subcontractors to complete specific parts of a construction project. For example, a general contractor might have construction experience but need a subcontractor to install plumbing lines in a new home.

Costs depend on metal type, fabrication complexity, labor, finishing, and shipping or installation requirements.

When choosing a metal roof, consider not only the area of the roof but also the thickness of the panel, known as the gauge. Common roofing gauge sizes for metal roofs are 24-gauge and 26-gauge. The smaller the gauge size, the thicker the roof. Usually, a thicker gauge is ideal if your house is in an area that sees a lot of rain, snow, or hail, as it will be less likely to dent.

The average cost to hire a welder is about $300, with an average rate ranging from $65 to $125 per hour, depending on their experience and the project type and size. Aside from labor costs, some other charges you’ll need to pay include the cost of the welding material and the cost of the shielding gas that makes welding possible and safe. When you’re interviewing welders for your work, you can ask for an estimate based on your project specifics. In some simple cases, like welding gas lines or common welding projects, local welders may charge a flat hourly rate with add-ons if necessary.

Since cesspits must be watertight to prevent leakage and contamination, so they’re typically constructed from one of a few tough materials. Most cesspits are made from fiberglass, concrete, polythene, or steel. Each of these materials carries certain advantages—fiberglass, for example, is resistant to corrosion but may be more prone to cracking if it’s at high capacity.
