Sterling Auto Service and Body Shop

These guys only work with insurance. If you are paying out-of-pocket, you'll have to go elsewhere. I do appreciate the fact that they answered the phone on the first call and were up-front about only dealing through insurance companies.

The company found a mirror for the 2006 Saturn Ion and replaced the damaged mirror.

Everything went on without a hitch. The folks at Sterling handled the paperwork, repairs, and rental car and I was very happy with the service. To top it off, when the radiator cracked within a year of the initial repair, Sterling contacted the insurance company again and replaced it without cost to me. I would definitely go back there again.

I'm just moving to Maryland from Virginia, and I think I've gotten lucky and found a good mechanic that I can keep up a long term relationship with. Antonio and his staff are very friendly and professional. They knew that I was coming in with a particular problem (my car was vibrating when I put on the brakes), and that I was looking to pass Maryland state inspection before moving to my new place. They did not try to up-sell me optional repairs. They did what needed to be done to pass the inspection and that was all. Their price is right in line with what I figured I'd end up paying after I did some quick internet research. And for the amount of professionalism and service that I got, I would have been fine with paying a bit more anyway. Antonio picked me up from the Metro when I came to pick up my car even though I was late, and it was past their closing time already. Very friendly and personable. He even warned me about the speed cameras that are on the road outside of his shop. Will definitely use them again.

My car was hit by a deer (yes, the deer hit me), just as my lease was expiring. They were able to get the car in quickly and saved us money by finding used parts. The work was excellent.

Found a mirror that went the type of car per my request. Old mirror dismantled and replaced promptly on the same day. Professional and nice.

Antonio gave me a detailed estimate for repairs. He knew exactly what was required and provided the estimate in a very timely fashion. By comparison with three other estimates, all of which involved a longer time in the shop and greater expense, (and because he had been recommended by Angie's List) I accepted his offer. We scheduled the work, and it was completed in good order. An additional piece of work was needed that had not been anticipated, but when explained, it made good sense. However, because it had not been included in the original estimate he graciously did not charge me for that work. He dealt with my insurance company in a very efficient manner. His work brought the car back to looking like new! Both body work and paint job were perfect. Antonio is extremely professional in dealing with customers. His prices are very fair. The quality of his work is exemplary. I would go back to him for auto repair work in a minute, and have recommended him to others.

They repaired my bumper and right quarter panel after a run in with a concrete pillar in a parking garage. The repair was done very well, on time and for the estimated price. They were very nice and professional. I would recomend them to anyone needing body work repair.

My Tacoma had been hit, and my insurance company paid for repair. When I brought the truck in for repair, I had not made arrangements for a rental vehicle. The folks at Sterling were great, they called my insurance and then the rental place. They gave me a tour of their facility and an estimate of the repair time. They were perfect on all accounts and the repair is beautiful. Thanks!

Fantastic service! I called and spoke to Antonio (the owner) on a Wednesday afternoon and he told me the job would be a minimum of $40 and that he would not charge me to take a look and give an estimate. We made an appointment for 2pm and he was ready to see me within minutes of my arrival. He examined the vehicle and then took me inside to his work bays where he explained what needed to be done by showing me the detached front end from another vehicle. 15 minutes and $67 later, the work was completed and I was out the door. While I acknowledge that this was not a huge job, I appreciate that Antonio took the time to explain everything to me personally. I'm sure he had much bigger jobs to deal with while I was there! I was very satisfied with the service and will be bringing one of my other vehicles there for body work.

OVERALL Experience Overall, the service provided was very positive. Only minor issues, if at all. I was pleased with the quality of service and would feel comfortable using this shop again if I needed to. Price The cost was covered by the insurance company of the man who hit my car, so I'm a little indifferent on the price. However, I was surprised by how low the total amount was (only $900) as the entire front fender was replaced. Quality The fender was replaced without issue. The car was vacuumed and cleaned up nicely, which was nice. Two minor complaints: 1) There are some minor scratches on the front fender that suggests either that this part was acquired used, or that the mechanics scuffed the new fender during installation. Either way, it's not really that noticeable and I can live with it. 2) The mechanics left the old screws and bolts from the old fender in my cup holder for some reason. Not a problem at all, just unexpected. Responsiveness It took an extra day or so for the paper to get emailed to me after I had originally called and had my car towed to the shop. Also, when I had originally called I asked the receptionist about possibly getting an estimate for some tires - whoever I should have spoken with was apparently on another line, and I was told they would call me back, though they never did. Ultimately, not that big of a problem, but it's money out of their pocket I suppose. It felt like I was being proactive with my calls to them rather than the other way around, which is what differentiates an A from a B for me. Punctuality Work was completed in a very timely and efficient manner. No problem picking up my car once it was ready. Professionalism No problem with professionalism. The mechanic I spoke with provided excellent customer service, including walking through the estimate that was prepared and helping make sure that I understood it.

The work was covered by insurance (the insurance of the person who backed into my car), and it was one of the shops that the insurance company (Allstate) works with directly, so I'm really not in a position to comment on cost, since I didn't do any comparison shopping for price. I read good reviews of this business, and the location worked, so I gave them a try. The office staff explained very well all the work that would be done. As for the work itself, the repaired area looks as good as new, and the car was returned to me sparkling clean, inside and out. A piece of the rubber seal around one of the doors had come loose previously, and was not part of the insured repair, but they fixed it at no extra charge. I chose not to use a rental car because a family member's car was available to me, and we thought that would be easier. Logistically, that meant taking Metro both after dropping off the car and when I went to pick it up. Sterling provided a ride, to and from the Metro. Everyone I encountered during the whole process was pleasant, helpful, and a pleasure to do business with. I would definitely recommend this business for quality work and professionalism all around.

I have nothing but superlatives for Sterling. Their Professionalism is exemplary and the work is beautiful. They even cleaned inside and out which was a huge bonus for me.

I checked Angie's list and chose the one that people were most satisfied with. I was pretty satisfied with the body work that they did. It was difficult getting the paint match so the paint doesn't match perfectly but the body work was fine. The problem with the paint is, the car is like 15 years old so it is very difficult. You have to get up real close to notice the difference. The car looks fine. They seem to be very nice. It was done when they said they were going to have it done. When I picked the car up, I was looking all around for stuff that I had in the car and they had put it all in the trunk because they went through the whole car and cleaned the whole car and I didn't ask them to clean the whole car. My stuff was all there, they just put it all together.

Sterling representatives stayed late on a Saturday to provide an estimate to repair the damage. Did a preliminary estimate which the insurance company approved. They started the work on time and every other day gave me rundown on what repairs were being done and when the car would be finished. They uncovered structural damage that was not originally in the estimate and contacted the insurance company to get their approval to repair the additional required repair. They were extremely professional and personable. After the repair was completed....they went through the itmeized bill with me and told me what and why they had performed that work. I would recommend this company to anyone who asks.

I took my car (which needed what I hoped was only cosmetic repair) to Sterling for an estimate, which seemed very reasonable to me., especially compared with the last body shop I dealt with. I like that they were completely open, and gave me a written estimate with details of all costs. They did say that once they removed the bumper they might see internal damage. I decided to have them do the work, and set up an appointment. The car was ready exactly when they said it would be, and at the same price they had estimated. They are easy to work with, and nice people who like their jobs. I hope I never need a body shop again, but if I do I will definitely return to Sterling.

The price was better than another estimate I'd gotten, and they clearly answered all my questions. Martha, the estimator, was wonderful to work with, Abel and Josue did a fabulous job on the work itself, and the owner drove me home personally. They are very well-organized and responsive, they clearly want to make sure their customers are happy, and my car looks great!

They did a good job and were incredibly accommodating. However there were things that were not completed upon my arrival to pick up my car. I had to leave the car and come back later to pick the car up for the remainder to be completed. I do have to sat that I would use them again in the future based on the exceptional customer service skills of the manager that was handling my repairs at the time.

Sterling is WONDERFUL! The staff are just the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. I walked in one morning and got an estimate (two, actually -- I had something else they gave me an estimate for that I decided was too minor to be worth fixing), and two days later I brought my car in for repair. I thought the price was very fair and the work was just excellent. I think it looks even better than when it was new!
