The technician was responsive, arrived on time and completed the job very efficiently. He even put a coat of primer on the area he worked on. I rated him a "B" on price only because I didn't have any comparison, as none of the other companies I requested a quote from responded to my inquiry. That said, it didn't seem out of line. However, I am still waiting on a receipt, as I paid him in cash since he did not have a PayPal account or except credit cards.

Abay Iron & Metal Works mounted a mailbox on the front stoop of my house (Nov 2018) for $325. The worker came out from the company location in WDC, so a minimum charge to come out to Falls Church address was applied. Getting an experienced welder resulted in mounting the mailbox by welding so the mailbox would not move, yet could be removed, if necessary. The project was well organized and efficiently carried out. This company operates professionally.

I needed modifications to ground-level window grates and the installation of a handrail to my basement to meet DC code. Tilahun and his team did a quick and thorough job, all at a very reasonable price.

Perfectly. He explained everything, and made sure our rotund cat could get through the bars. The window bars are, at a glance, identical to the ones between the window panes. Everything looks custom at 1/2 the price estimated by another company.

The owner followed my directions exactly down to the special paint color. He and his helper arrived on time in the morning and installed the bars very quickly. They even returned the next day to add some additional elements. There was a high level of professionalism and the excellence of their work made up for the fact they were not the least expensive window bar company in DC.

Tilahun and assistant arrived promptly on both days, completed the work timely, and throughout were unfailingly professional, used quality products, and performed high-quality work. I could not have been more pleased. The price quotation correctly identified the scope of work to be done, and the work was done within the quoted estimate.

The rails installed by Abay are very strong and attractive. They showed up on time and completed the work in a timely manner.

T (that is the name he goes by) was great to deal with. He was very pleasant and easy to talk to. His estimate was about $2000 less than a competitor. I had to reach out to him a second time which is the only reason why I rated him a 4 on the responsiveness question. An added bonus was T helped pick up my dad when he fell in the house on the installation day. He was also very patient with all my dad's questions prior to the work being started. I highly recommend this company.

Excellent response and workmanship. I received the estimate on Monday we discussed the design . The work was completed that Thursday . The work was done quickly and with great care by Marco. I would highly recommend the service. Very happy with the results

All facets of the process...from the initial visit to our house through the installation phase were handled effortlessly. They stayed in communication with me throughout the process and delivered a high quality product.

Abay did a great job.  He came very quickly when the  window contractor couldn't perform the job.

I received estimates from 3 welders. Abay Iron Works was the most reasonably priced, and they did a great job. T needed to come to my house several times as part of the job, from taking measurements to installation. Each time, he arrived when he said he would.
The craftsmanship was outstanding- T and his team did great work, including installation of new bars and new mesh on an exterior fence. They clearly listened to the reason why I hired them (to secure areas of my house), and this was reflected in the work they did. They even added welded an additional small metal barrier around the lock on a door, to make it more secure.
Abay Iron Works does high quality work at reasonable prices. I'd recommend them to anyone.

The experience was first rate.  The two-man team arrived right on time (despite the fact it was rush hour).  The set to work right away as though they had mentally prepared every step to be taken.  They covered the flow and taped up the brick wall near the railing to protect it from dust and paint.  The entire experience of refurbishing which entailed the replacement of several flanges at the foot of the railing where it attached to the concrete floor and steps of the stoop.  There was considerable grinding of rusted areas and welding to replace the flanges.  The two workers did not stop their constant motion until the work was completed which amazingly took a little less than three hours.  I was prepared for at least four or five hours.  This gave me the opportunity to add on a small job I had not previously anticipated, which was to repaint two side windows which were covered with wrought iron bars.  They did this for a very modest additional fee, despite the fact that they had another job waiting for the afternoon.

Product was more than expected.  Installation was very professional.  Just keep up on them, sometimes email comms get a little wonky.  Will go to them for each and every project like this I'll ever need.
