Brendan Works, LLC. (BDW) is a small minority owned iron works firm headquartered in Temple Hills, Maryland. We are licensed in Maryland, Virginia and in the District of Columbia. BDW employs talented iron workers and certified construction engineers dedicated to satisfying our customer’s requirement for solutions to their designed-based needs. BDW specializes in miscellaneous metals, decorative design as well as stairways and rails.

"I contacted Brendan Works to get a quote to replace my Capitol Hill townhome's rusted-out metal staircase. I wanted something that would fit with the classic look of the neighborhood, while being durable and solid. I was in a hurry, because I needed the stairs to go in before we moved some furniture and scheduled another contractor for a separate service. Communication: The owner Daniel was extremely responsive - we spoke on the phone, texted, and emailed when necessary. He worked around my schedule to get a quote and then to get the work done in a fast-turn, narrow time window. He was always pleasant and efficient. Quality: The stairs and rails look really, really nice and feel really solid. They seamlessly removed my crumbling old stairs. The welding looks really smooth. They found salvage components to create the classic Capitol Hill look with the rails, even though I couldn't describe exactly what I wanted, they absolutely hit the mark based on some pictures I sent them. Price: Really competitive. Daniel looked at the components of the structure that were in good enough shape to remain, instead of ripping out everything - and that saved us a ton of money. I had assumed it would all need to come off the house and they could have easily charged me a lot more. I would definitely work with Brendan Works again and recommend them to friends who are looking for a solid welding company."

Argos Furniture Co. is a growing local business looking to enhance how furniture is made today by utilizing all natural, durable materials, while creating a truly unique piece. We take pleasure working with our clients every step of the way to ensure client personalization and satisfaction.

"I had a pleasant experience with Argos Furniture Company! Catherine was professional and patient when designing and installing a custom made (10 foot) live-edge conference table in our new office space. I was very happy with the overall process and result of our conference table, it's been a huge hit with clients! I recommended her to various businesses that work in our office building and I've seen some of the cubical/desk installations she's completed recently, couldn't be more impressed with her work. It's very difficult to find affordable office furniture in Northern Virginia and I can happily say that Argos had a great selection at reasonable prices!"

Metal Fabrication and Restoration questions, answered by experts

Common materials used include aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel, and copper, each selected for their properties suited to specific repair needs.

Corrugated metal has been pressed so that it has alternating ridges or grooves. Metal that has undergone this process becomes incredibly strong, with some of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any material. It's lightweight and has an increased surface area when compared to a flat sheet of metal. Both of these attributes contribute to its coveted strength. It's used for fencing because it's weather- and impact-resistant, rarely needs maintenance, and lasts many years—for a relatively low cost.

There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:

  • Are you licensed and certified?

  • How long have you been in the welding business?

  • Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?

  • Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?

  • Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

  • How long do you expect my welding project to take?

  • What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?

The best tool for cutting metal ducts depends on the duct's shape and thickness. For round ducts, a duct cutter provides accurate, clean cuts. Reciprocating saws equipped with metal-cutting blades are versatile and suitable for both round and rectangular ducts. They offer speed and precision, especially for thicker metal.

Tin snips are handy for intricate cuts or smaller ducts. However, an angle grinder with a metal-cutting wheel is powerful and efficient for large or thick metal ducts.

Costs depend on furniture type, size, complexity, and whether additional modifications are needed.
