"We needed our brick front walk repaired. We did some research and also asked neighbors for referrals and got two. The first contractor wanted to replace our entire brick steps and walkway with flagstone (expensive!). The second contractor was Brothers Pavers and Jose said he could repair only the part that needed fixing. He provided a quote (very reasonable) within a day and started work the following week. We were in a time crunch and Jose was able to work us in. Amazing!! It took two days to do the repair and each day the work area was cleaned. Once the mortar was cured, they came back and power washed the steps and walkway - it looked brand new! We highly recommend this company. Jose and the team were excellent to work with."
"I have used this company before, for a patio at our old house, so when I moved and so I would need a new sidewalk I knew who to call. Derek, the sales person and estimator,arrived right on time and was very professional in suggesting a design for the new sidewalk. He also suggested that we could use some of the existing flagstone to build a pad for our trash cans around the side of the house. they told me they estimated the work would be done at the end of August, but they actually came out two weeks early to do the work. on a hot day, the team worked hard and was very efficient and precise. Mr. Morgado the supervisor was there at the beginning and we discussed and confirmed the work to be done...then he gave clear instructions to the crew. They did a super job, and it looks terrific...attractive and professional. Santos the crew leader confirmed things with me before doing them, like how to handle a tricky step up from the driveway. Unlike his competitors he came prepared with material samples along with pictures of previous projects. It was clear Carlos had a background in structural engineering as he was able to answer all my questions pertaining to anything structural. I received my proposal the same day of my appointment which others took weeks. It included firm pricing for permits which others only provided a range of cost. The job was well managed with keeping their workers on task and managing material deliverers along with keeping me up to date on job statis. "Not convinced the work was needed. The person who came to look over job did not appear to look over complete issue before making recommendation. Vertical Brick on front porch was separating. When inspecting under house Person did not open passage way to see if brick sat on brick ledge. Did not have his screwdriver. Brick does not sit on a brick ledge so the 6 pillars installed really did not help. Went to another company for foam injection to lift brick."
"I have nothing but good words for this company and its owner, David. I had stone steps installed in early 2025 and did a fantastic job. I had one stone come loose right after our last snow and I contacted David about it. He sent someone out in less than a week to repair it. And recently, I contacted them to do a spring clean-up, redo a garden with the addition of a retaining wall, and to install stone steppers on a hill. From start to finish, it was professionalism all the way. David was very prompt in putting the proposal together and after I agreed with the terms, he got me on the schedule for work to be done in less than 3 weeks. Real stone is exactly what it sounds like: It’s real stone sourced from the earth without additives. It is durable and unique, but it’s difficult to work with because of its weight, challenge in sourcing, and high cost. Stone veneer mimics the look of real stone but is actually engineered with a mixture of Portland cement, natural minerals, and a colorant. While it’s more affordable and easier to work with, it’s less durable and may appear manufactured to the trained eye.
You may not need a hammer drill if you’re planning on drilling one or two very small diameter holes in brick. For holes with a diameter of 3/16-inch or less, a regular drill with a masonry bit can do the job. However, the bit will heat up quickly, and the process will take significantly longer than with a hammer drill. Prepare to cool your drill bit down in a bucket of water more often.
Brick spalling—which refers to the crumbly, flaky, or pitted appearance that can develop over time—is caused by a few different conditions. These include:
Climates with constant freeze-thaw cycles
Use of non-breathable sealants
High-pressure water cleaning
Improper installation
While you can’t do anything about the weather, you can preserve your bricks by cleaning them with soapy water and a good old-fashioned scrubbing. Pressure washers may be satisfying to use, but they can eventually wear away the surface of your bricks. If you don’t have advanced-level DIY skills in masonry, you can hire a reputable masonry contractor in your area for your project.
Yes, staining a brick home can increase a home’s value, assuming your pro does a good job and you keep up with maintenance tasks. Staining brick is a much better way to increase a home’s value than painting brick, as the latter can cause chipping, warping, and bubbling. Brick stain, on the other hand, gets absorbed by the surface, so it can still breathe.
When painting brick, each application method has distinct advantages and disadvantages. Spraying is significantly faster but may not penetrate deeply beyond the surface layer. Rolling is effective for working paint into the brick's texture but can be less effective on mortar joints. If you opt for a roller, choose a thick nap of at least a half-inch to ensure paint gets into all the crevices for even coverage. Using a brush is generally not recommended as it is very time-consuming and provides poor surface penetration. Ultimately, a combination of spraying followed by back-rolling is often the best strategy for a durable and even finish.
