"These guys did a fantastic job and were an absolute pleasure to work with. Small business, all primary work done by the three owners/operators of the group, who are are masters in their respective fields: "Tech Guy", Electrician, and Gas Fitter. (I genuinely hope to not cause offense by this broadly generalized description). I had a 20kW Cummins LP/NG-fired automatic backup generator installed and connected to a new automatic transfer switch, and (since we had no existing gas system) a new 500gallon LP propane tank installed and under-grounded to feed the generator. My main electrical panel was brought up to current code in the process. The excavation and burial work was subcontracted to a trusted local operator that did really nice work, and they worked with Southern States to provide a tank and first fill. They handled all the permits and coordinated the inspections. Waiting for the county inspector, and waiting for Southern States to fill the tank after the gas inspection, were the only observable delays in the process, and those were negligible/reasonable. The SciFiHomes people were quick, efficient, and obviously practiced with all of their pieces of the work. They will strongly prefer Cummins-brand generators over the competitors, and they are more a more expensive initial investment compared to them. After doing my own research after their sales pitch, it is a very worthwhile "upgrade". The difference between Cummins' generators and the competitors is fuel efficiency; according to the math, I'll get over 24 hours of additional runtime vs (as an example) Generac's 20kW generator at 40% average load on a full 420gallons of propane in the new 500gal tank. With an extended outage, or multiple long outages as with last winter in Frederick County, that's a very significant advantage. Sorry for the "sales pitch"; I only included this to prove that they're in my opinion very justified in pushing the "premium" brand. We purchased the extended warranty uplift as well as their extended service agreement. We can't recommend them enough; fantastic experience, and this generator has already flawlessly provided over 20 hours of outage coverage in the 5 months we've had it. Winter is coming, and we'll be ready this time. It just works... These guys and their total solution probably isn't the absolute cheapest in the area... but we absolutely got what we paid for. Thanks SFH!"

"Two workmen showed up at the designated time and installed 'in wall' electrical for undercabinet lighting in the wall along with trouble shooting additional 3-way light switches, dimmers, and USB outlets. Work was fast, efficient, and professionally done within the allotted time. Would definitely recommend and will use Nasr Electrical again in the future."

Customers say: True professional

"Greenleaf Electric: very professional, assessed needs quickly. Installation of a ChargePoint home EV done after the local inspector required electrical upgrades for the main panel, changes to insure the house was up to code, including placement of a new mast. Other improvements done to bring my 1965 era home up to date. Greenleaf Electric is exceptional. Very pleased with the staff brought in to assist, the two inspectors from Frederick County, also Potomac Edison - all were professional. Also replaced security lights, installed Ring doorbell and cameras, installed new Carriage lights for the garage and front door. Just awesome! Thank you!"

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

In Frederick, signs that generator installation may need to be redone include visible rust or corrosion on backup generator terminals, especially after humid summers or heavy rainfall. If you notice the generator vibrating excessively, producing louder-than-normal noise, or failing to start reliably during outages, it’s worth a professional review. Placement too close to living spaces or missing weatherproofing are also red flags for homeowners in Frederick.

Helpful?

Frederick homeowners are increasingly choosing whole-house standby generators with smart monitoring features for real-time alerts. Automatic transfer switches and load management systems are common for seamless power transitions. Many opt for sound-reducing enclosures and discreet placement behind native landscaping. Concrete pads with decorative edging are popular for both stability and curb appeal, especially in neighborhoods with strict HOA guidelines.

Helpful?

If you’ve experienced frequent power outages, rely on well pumps, or use medical equipment at home in Frederick, it’s a good time to consider generator installation. Many residents plan projects before summer thunderstorms or winter ice storms. Noticeable increases in power interruptions, new construction nearby, or the need for reliable backup power for remote work are also strong indicators to schedule an installation.

Helpful?

After generator installation in Frederick, schedule any required inspections and inform your utility provider of the new backup power system. Test the automatic transfer switch weekly and inspect for debris or drainage issues around the unit. Maintain a monthly test run, change oil every six months, and arrange for annual professional servicing. Register your warranty, update your insurance, and confirm compliance with local noise ordinances.

Helpful?

In Frederick, older homes or those in historic districts often have outdated electrical panels or tight property lines, which can complicate standby generator installation. Homes on steep slopes, near flood-prone creeks, or with dense landscaping may require custom solutions for safe placement. Limited access to natural gas lines or overhead utility wires can also mean alternative fuel sources or creative routing for backup power connections.
