Highly recommended. The entire process was performed expertly and efficiently. In our initial meeting, Tony explained what would be needed in detail and we were given the pros and cons of all options. We went with the Cummins which was a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for and we will be patting ourselves on the back during the next four-day outage. They provided a detailed installation schedule which they easily met. Installation went smoothly with zero problems. Marshall, Steve and Tony are masters at their trade.

These guys did a fantastic job and were an absolute pleasure to work with. Small business, all primary work done by the three owners/operators of the group, who are are masters in their respective fields: "Tech Guy", Electrician, and Gas Fitter. (I genuinely hope to not cause offense by this broadly generalized description). I had a 20kW Cummins LP/NG-fired automatic backup generator installed and connected to a new automatic transfer switch, and (since we had no existing gas system) a new 500gallon LP propane tank installed and under-grounded to feed the generator. My main electrical panel was brought up to current code in the process. The excavation and burial work was subcontracted to a trusted local operator that did really nice work, and they worked with Southern States to provide a tank and first fill. They handled all the permits and coordinated the inspections. Waiting for the county inspector, and waiting for Southern States to fill the tank after the gas inspection, were the only observable delays in the process, and those were negligible/reasonable. The SciFiHomes people were quick, efficient, and obviously practiced with all of their pieces of the work. They will strongly prefer Cummins-brand generators over the competitors, and they are more a more expensive initial investment compared to them. After doing my own research after their sales pitch, it is a very worthwhile "upgrade". The difference between Cummins' generators and the competitors is fuel efficiency; according to the math, I'll get over 24 hours of additional runtime vs (as an example) Generac's 20kW generator at 40% average load on a full 420gallons of propane in the new 500gal tank. With an extended outage, or multiple long outages as with last winter in Frederick County, that's a very significant advantage. Sorry for the "sales pitch"; I only included this to prove that they're in my opinion very justified in pushing the "premium" brand. We purchased the extended warranty uplift as well as their extended service agreement. We can't recommend them enough; fantastic experience, and this generator has already flawlessly provided over 20 hours of outage coverage in the 5 months we've had it. Winter is coming, and we'll be ready this time. It just works... These guys and their total solution probably isn't the absolute cheapest in the area... but we absolutely got what we paid for. SciFiHomes, Inc. did a great job installing our whole-house generator. They are friendly, efficient, reliable. They take the time to do things right and make sure the homeowner understands the equipment.

Tony and Marshall were very professional from start to finish. They originally quoted three different generators and laid out the exact cost for each. What I really admire is they also talk about value in your purchase. They didn't try to sell me on the most expensive model but rather the best value for my needs and my home. On the job site both Tony and Marshall handled everything. They were punctual, courteous and knowledgeable. I felt extremely comfortable not being at home while the work was performed and each night I usually had some communication about what would occur the next day. At the end of the job they explained everything to me including how the relay switch works in case of an automatic failure (so we could still get power by manually flipping the switch if necessary). Overall I'm very pleased I chose SciFi Homes to install the generator. I highly recommend them and, at a minimum, encourage anyone to get a quote from them.

OWNERS RESPONDED PROMPTLY TO ASSESS SITUATION AND NEED.  WE DISCUSSED NEEDS AND OPTIONS AND THEY HAD A GOOD SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM AND CONCERNS.  THE RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT WAS AS ADVERTIZED AND THEIR WORK WAS HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL.  I AM IMPRESSED!  WOULD DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN IN A MINUTE!  HAVE NOT HAD A POWER OUTAGE SINCE INSTALLATION (OF COURSE), BUT THE MACHINE HAS RUN THROUGH MONTHLY TEST CYCLES FINE.

Tony came out and gave us 3 estimates for 3 different generators. We chose the Cummins Onan because it suited our needs and provided the quietest operating generator. It also was the highest rated out of the 3. Tony and Marshall dug out a place to set the concrete pad which the generator is placed on.The digging was done neatly. Tony and Marshall then did all the installation of the electrical work. Steve Mays then came and did all the necessary work for the gas lines run and then connected to the generator. Steve worked in our crawlspace running the gas line form the gas meter on the south side of our house to the north side where the generator was located outside nearby our electrical box. Tony and Marshall came back to instruct us in the operation of the generator, which is basically you checking to make sure the green light is always on. Local inspectors gave a green light with the excellent work done. We will need to check the oil ever so often, but that is typically simple. Tony and Marshall and Steve all worked within the timeline which they had given us. They were very professional, caring, neat and extremely well informed about the generator. We had a lot of questions and they answered them all. We called them and they always picked up our calls. We could not have been more pleased with them. If you are looking for a home standby generator, these are the ONLY guys to get!

There were two guys on the job- and they charge hourly x2. We were not aware of that at first, but they really seemed to know their field.

It went okay. There was an additional additional charge because they sent 2 men for the 2 hours. They did a good job. I think for the job they did they may have needed 2 people.

Work was done quickly, as scheduled.  I used a 'big deal' coupon, and Marshall and Tony complete everything I needed done.

They electricians were very professional. We communicated before the appointment so they would know exactly what make and models of fans and TV I wanted installed, and they came prepared. Everything worked exactly like they told me it should, and they ended up installing everything in less time than we planned. They did an outstanding job and I plan on calling them back to install another TV in the near future. I suspect I will use SciFiHomes for all my electrical needs in the future. I really was that impressed. The work was performed in Fredericksburg, VA - Not Woodbridge.

Very well indeed...they were responsive to our concerns.  Most impressive was their willingness to come back another day and check out our light problem, at the soonest time, and no charge.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They were great. They came out within 2 weeks. In fact, we just had them back because we had them look at the sensor in our light. We couldn’t figure out how to control it but they couldn’t find where the source was to which was fine. After a day or 2 that they were gone, all of a sudden we had a light in front of the house so I had contacted them for them to see whatever they did. So they just came last week and fixed it. It just needed cleaning and they didn’t charge us anything. So it was really great.

The work performed by this company was excellent. They arrived on time, were efficient in performing and managing the time needed to complete many small electrical jobs, to include replacing all 5 of my old and outdated exterior lights, repairing my ceiling fan, and repairing an interior bedroom ceiling light. I have already received a compliment on the exterior lighting. The quality of the work and professionalism was greatly appreciated. I would use this company again and would highly recommend to others.

Refreshingly discovered a simple, inexpensive solution to problem.

The guys arrived exactly at the prearranged time. They informed me that the work would take longer than the '2 man hours' that I bought through the Angie's List Deals before they began the job - which I appreciated.  They were on task and professional the whole time. They explained any problems they encountered while re-installing the old light fixture - need new bulbs.  They cleaned up any mess they made at the end of the job. Rates and cost of supplies were reasonable.  I WILL BE CALLING THEM BACK FOR ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL WORK IN THE FUTURE.

They came out this morning and they checked my circuits for me. They guys work was really good.

It was difficult for me to describe what type of wire had been severed by a previous work crew -- who never bothered to tell me that they had cut a wire while they jack-hammered my back concrete deck --  so we agreed that when the electrician had another job in my area, he would stop by to assess my workscope.  He did that on Friday -- fortunately I was here because I got no call in advance  -- and he concluded that the work could be performed at that time.  The wire was reconnected and tested to see if all of the electricity-consuming featured in the gazebo worked.  Not all did, but that was the fault of the appliance, not the work performed by the electrician.  I asked that, as an extra service, he tack up another electrical line so that I wouldn't sever it when I mowed along the edge and under my deck, and he did so cheerfully.  The two-man crew was here for a bit more than an hour and accomplished what I had asked him to do in the Angie's List Big Deal, which was two man-hours of electrical work of any kind.  I have greater peace of mind now that my dogs can play in the back yard without my worrying that they will come in contact with a live wire..

Fantastic! They were extremely professional and knowledgeable. They provided me with a great deal and fisnished the job in a time fashion. I cannot rave enough about these guys. If you want a media room dont even look anywhere else. These guys will do it for you for best price and best quality.

Overall the project went very well and the work was completed on time and on budget.  The work consisted of bringing an additional 200 amps of service into a disconnect switch that is housed in my already finished basement.  The disconnect was then wired to a new 200amp panel in an unfinished area of the basement.  Finally a 100 amp circuit is run from the new panel to a 100amp disconnect in my garage.
The project took about 3 days to complete and SciFi Homes was very professional throughout the process.  They cleaned up after their work each day, they were respectful of my family and of my home.  They also handled all of the coordination with the electrical inspector and with the power company.
I would definitely use SciFi Homes in the future if faced with another large electrical project.

I contacted Sci-Fi Homes in connection with installing a whole house generator last year while doing a major renovation on my home. My initial reason for contacting them was to "pick their brain" on the process as I didn't think I could afford their services. Marshall was quick to respond and was totally professional and courteous during our initial meeting. He provided an extremely detailed quote just a few days later. The price was very competitive and combined with their overall professional and friendly demeanor awarding them the job was a no-brainer.

Marshall took on the added responsibility of coordinating with the contractor, propane provider and the electric company as well. Everything came off without a hitch. Our fuse box situation was a particular mess so we decided to have Marshall and Tony do that job too, because of how well the generator installation went. Once again, a first class job! We had to fire our contractor 8 months in to a promised 4 month job and we found ourselves in a real bind. All facets of that project had been started but nothing had been completed.

The electric work was a real disaster. Once again, it was Marshall and Tony to the rescue! It took them a week to figure out what had and had not been done, what was not done correctly and get it all straightened out and working. They really went above and beyond. I will be using Sci-Fi Homes for all of my electrical needs from now on. They are simply the best!
