•   I am so happy that I decided to go with Fox Creek Builders to install my window and 2 sliding glass doors.  From order to install the process was excellent + only took about 3 weeks.  Amazing since it took another vendor a month to tell me they could not fill the order I previously requested.  Max, the owner, came out with Fred to measure and discuss my request.  When Fred installed the custom doors + window they fit better than the original doors they replaced---fit like a glove.  Fred was extremely pleasant, neat + a precision installer.  They removed all the old debris, vacuumed all the rooms, deck + cleaned all the windows after install.  I did not even have to remove my blinds during the process + they were particular about routing my outside cable wire. 
    The doors are very high quality argon + insulated glass.  My husband + I just love how smoothly both the doors + screens move along with the other bells+ whistles.  Even my dog loves the doors + the crew.  Max came out and inspected the job + again explained the features so we did not miss anything.  We couldn't be more pleased with this purchase--well worth the money + I just wish I had done this sooner.  Thanks to the Fox Creek Builders--Great team and Great work.

Everyone, starting with the young man who approached us to talk about the company, the salespeople and the team doing the work was professional, polite, honest, pleasant and super careful. The windows, sliding glass doors and the front door look amazing. Our house is fifty-two-years old and badly needed to be "refreshed". The quality of their products is excellent. While the work was being done, several people from the company came by to check on the progress. "The work was completed on time and on budget but enough problems arose that I doubt if I'd use JW again. I should have known better when the estimator, on his first and only visit to my house, put pressure on me to accept their estimate on-the-spot. That was a huge red flag but I was in a hurry and the quoted price wasn't crazy, so I signed. But be warned: JW's estimators will pressure you. Things ran smoothly once I was handed off to a project manager. Bob was both professional and punctual. He came out and measured the existing front door so that we could order the new custom door to fit the existing space. I also purchased a new storm door and had it on-site ready to install as well. The installers arrived promptly and were both friendly and efficient. By the end of the day, however, some issues became apparent. First, moulding that surrounds the door frame at the top was a good 1" higher than it had been. This was obvious because the moulding continues horizontally for the length of the wall. It had been level, now the door section was much higher than the rest. Also, the gap between the door and the wall varied vertically from top to bottom. Seemed like something wasn't level there, too. As a result, the door lock just barely made the reach from the door knob to the wall lock plate. Even a slight turn and the door would pop open. The lock plate itself looks to have needed several attempts to alight correctly, leaving unsightly cuts in the wood around it. The storm door was installed properly but they appear to have incorrectly installed the removable glass section. I discovered unused retaining strips in the materials instead of on the door. I brought these issues to Bob's attention and he scheduled the same installers to come out and affix repairs. Unfortunately, the didn't bother to coordinate schedules with me and instead just showed up at my door one morning by surprise. Rather than send them away, I took a few hours off work so that they could get to work then and there. They did resolve the gap issue but at the cost of even more unsightly cuts in the wood. They were, however, unable or unwilling to address the curious height issue that left me with uneven moulding. Overall, the work was completed but the quality wasn't the best and the communication from the installers was zero. This saddens me because they were quite friendly. I just wish they'd done better work. Granted, perhaps my expectations were too high but I assumed that the final product would be showroom-level. Not so much."

"Our experience with Garrety Glass has been excellent thus far. We were interested in a retractable awning and had contacted another dealer prior to calling Garrety Glass. The other dealer canceled our 1st appointment and then called the day of the 2nd appointment to cancel again. At that point, we knew we needed someone else that would be reliable. Our appointment with Garrety Glass was never canceled. Our sales person, Jordan Merrifield was excellent and came prepared with a Mini retractable awning along with different fabrics. We could see, touch, and feel the products. Our installation team consisted of Micah, Kyle, and Devin who were at our home at the stated time. They explained everything in detail and showed us how everything worked. They were simply excellent, professional, courteous, and thorough."

"Very disappointed! In mid- August we contracted with this firm to replace four large custom size windows- 2 triangles, and 2 trapezoids. They estimated completion in 4-6 weeks. It actually took over 13 weeks with several “tries”. Furthermore, this project ended on a sour note. Just a few days after final installation, I noticed the caulking was already bubbling - dozens of bubbles ¼ - to ½ inch in size. When the owner emailed me asking for referrals, I responded saying that we needed a follow up visit to fix the caulk. That was almost 2 weeks ago and I have not received a reply. The contract required 100% payment on the completion date. As the consumer, that left us helpless when this problem arose just days after 'completion'. In the future, with any home improvement, I will require a 5% hold back for 2-4 weeks in case problems arise. Is the job complete? Not in my mind as the caulk issue has not been fixed. It seems that I will need to handle this myself. The caulk looks awful! Was it a disaster? No but it did not go very well. Needless to say, with all the home improvement contractors in Northern Virginia, I will NOT use this firm again. I will describe this project from three angles. Client interaction: C- The sales rep did not care about the project. We had multiple cases where the glass arrived damaged or was the wrong size. After the first problem, I called the sales rep and he was of no help and never called again to check up. Do not expect this person to be of any help. I then focused on working with the owner and project coordinator. They do not communicate well or frequently. I always felt in the dark. And their response to issues is extremely slow. The attitude seems to be "it is what it is and things will happen when they happen". At one point the owner told me “sometimes things have to get worse before they get better”. Workmanship: B Overall the workers were the best part of the experience. They definitely knew their jobs and worked carefully (see below), skillfully, and quickly. They protected the work area and cleaned up well. They seemed to have adequate tools and skill. I believe the caulk bubbling was due to weather conditions (humidity at end of day, etc.). Hard to say this is exactly their fault. They did one thing wrong from my point of view. Our home exterior is cedar siding. One of the cedar jambs was installed with the rough side showing instead of the smooth side. All the others are smooth side out. Not a big issue but enough to keep them from an "A " rating. Safety: C The windows are fairly high up (10-18 feet) and we noted on the contract the need for special scaffolding. For the first installation attempt, the workers did not bring scaffolding and tried to do the job with a couple of 6 foot step ladders and one extension ladder. It was so dangerous we took pictures and emailed them to the owner. We seriously thought about asking them to stop the project. These windows weigh hundreds of pounds and standing on the very top of a step ladder to handle them is extremely risky. But it turned out they only had one good window to install that day. Two others were the wrong size and a third one was damaged. For the final installation, they came with proper scaffolding. This employer not only put his workers at risk, but put us at risk as well. We could have been held responsible had there been an accident on our property. Job safety was clearly not a priority."

"We are overall pleased with the install. However, the guys who installed them left broken glass on my bedroom door that I stepped on. Also, the caulk around the outside could have been smoothed out. Other than that, it was all good."
