"Kinsellabuilt was amazing when working on our 1950s home that needed significant work (full floor joist, plumbing, electric, interior walls, etc.) We worked with directly with Jon who was fantastic, explaining the process to us ever step of the way and making an incredibly stressful situation significantly easier. The price was reasonable, and they were incredibly accommodating to our needs. We would 100% recommend them to anyone who needs work done on their home."

"MAB Woodworking responded to our online request for kitchen cabinet remodeling to accommodate a new current model refrigerator. Our 45 year old Amana refrigerator died suddenly & no modern refrigerator could fit into the existing built-in space. Ugh! Michael Butler, MAB founder, visited our home first to scope out a vision for moving the cabinets to allow room for a new KitcenAid 36” counter depth refrigerator. Michael sensed our urgency, immediately scheduled the repair, giving us a firm date for refrigerator install & appeared two days later completing the work on time & on budget. "Eric and co are the best - attentive, listen, give their professional advice, and just do a great job. The project went really well - repaired water and bug damage and fixed what was originally done in a not so great manner. Our third successful project w/ Eric and team. Very pleased"

"Highly recommended. Jose and Cesar were great. They were reliable and their work was excellent. They completely remodeled our condo including 4 bathrooms, floors, fireplace/hearth, etc. It was a big job and they worked with us to make sure everything came out exactly the way we wanted. The cost was very reasonable."

"Mo was great! He responded quickly and was a fair price. I had 4 projects for him to do and he took care of all of the projects quickly and efficiently in 1 day. I would recommend and use him again for more projects to get done around the property. Thank you!"

Closets questions, answered by experts

The differences between a built-in closet and a walk-in aren’t that different from a built-in wardrobe and a walk-in closet. It’s fairly simple—a walk-in closet is a closet you can physically enter, stand in, and walk around in. A built-in (whether wardrobe or closet) is more akin to covered shelves installed into a recess in the wall. Another big difference is walk-in closets almost always have traditional full-size doors, while built-ins either have no doors or use sliding doors.

Yes, adding a built-in or custom closet generally increases your home's value and makes it more attractive to potential buyers. A well-designed closet adds utility, organization, and a touch of luxury, which are appealing selling points. Most homeowners see a return on investment (ROI) of 50% to 60%; for example, a custom closet can add about $1,000 to your home's value on average. The specific ROI depends on the type, with custom walk-in closets typically providing more value than reach-in closets. However, to maximize value, ensure the closet doesn't significantly detract from the room's usable square footage. Converting an entire room into a closet can actually lower your home's value. Similarly, using overly lavish materials may not recoup their cost. A good strategy is to add a closet that takes square footage from a non-living area, such as a garage, to create a mudroom closet.

DIY is possible for basic designs. Professional services ensure proper construction and space optimization.

Walk-in closets are always the biggest and can easily be more than 100 square feet. Primary bedroom closets, even if not walk-ins, are the second largest category in most homes and sit between 30 and 80 square feet. Linen closets, utility closets, and built-in closets are smaller and, depending on their usage, tend to be between 10 and 50 square feet.

If you’re on a tight budget, the least expensive material you can buy for DIY closet shelves is chipboard, a.k.a. particle board. This inexpensive material is made from a pulp of sawdust, resin, and glue that’s pressed together under high temperature and pressure. As you can imagine, it’s not very sturdy and might buckle under your blue jean collection, so you should only use it if you’re storing very light items.
