"Henry did an excellent job of snow removal from the driveway and shoveling the walkways in a timely manner so that my Momà ¢à  à  s care givers could come and go safely to and from their shifts as well as family and visitors. He kept me well informed with texts and photos."

"After three snow storms, ice dams collected along some of the edge of my house causing obvious leak-type damage to an interior wall and a couple of ceilings. I called A & J, and they were incredibly sensitive to my situation and made my house a priority despite their having received many similar calls for roof clearing that day. I was quoted their "usual" charge for such a job, fully expecting a surcharge after the fact since my house is a Victorian and has a high roof with steep angles. They arrived that afternoon and removed all the snow from my roof and broke up the ice dam. The price did not change, despite the precarious nature of the job. I would hire A & J again in a heartbeat for this service (although I hope I won't need to) and intend to call them in the early spring for a quote on the new roof I'd already planned to have installed this year. Bravo, A & J...and THANK YOU!"

"Just wow. I had several large oak trees removed from behind a fenced-in yard. The trees were actually hanging over my fence, so this was very precise and delicate work. Tony and his remarkable crew came in with a crane and dismantled the trees piece by piece, moving the pieces over my house and garage and into the front yard where they were further dismantled and put into a chipper. It was a spectacle to behold. They had to remove parts of two fences and my mailbox in order to do all of this, but everything was restored exactly they way it had been. Amazing! It looks fantastic, and every single member of the T & N team was incredibly nice and friendly on top of it. All businesses should take note: THIS is how you do customer service."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

In Springfield, focus on clearing driveways, front steps, and walkways, especially those with north-facing exposure where snow lingers. Pay special attention to low roof valleys prone to ice dam formation, basement window wells, and outdoor staircases. Don’t forget to keep access to mailboxes, utility meters, and emergency exits clear, as these areas are often overlooked but essential for safety and winter property maintenance.

Helpful?

Springfield’s winters bring frequent freeze-thaw cycles, heavy wet snow, and occasional nor’easters, which can create deep drifts and icy surfaces. The city’s mix of older homes and narrow streets means snow often accumulates in tight spaces, requiring careful planning for snow storage. Timely snow plowing and regular ice management are essential to prevent hazardous conditions and keep your property accessible throughout the winter season.

Helpful?

In Springfield, start your snow removal routine each fall by testing snow blowers, inspecting snow shovels for cracks, and restocking ice melt and sand. Clear gutters to prevent ice dams, trim tree limbs that hang over driveways, and mark property lines with stakes for plowing. Before winter storms, identify safe snow storage spots and check for uneven pavement that could cause slips, ensuring your home is ready for winter property maintenance.

Helpful?

In Springfield, schedule snow removal when snow accumulates over four inches, or when freezing rain and sleet are forecasted. Watch for blocked walkways, heavy snow on flat roofs, or icy patches near entrances. If you notice snow drifted against garage doors or have difficulty clearing steep driveways, it’s a good time to contact a local snow plowing professional for prompt and safe service.

Helpful?

In Springfield, you’ll find full-service landscaping companies offering seasonal snow plowing and ice management, specialized contractors focused on driveway and walkway clearing, and local handyman services for smaller jobs. Some providers handle roof snow and ice dam removal, while larger operators manage commercial lots with heavy equipment. Choose a contractor based on your property’s size, snow removal needs, and preferred level of winter maintenance.
