"Highly satisfied with Crystal Lake's work for snow removal. There were areas of the driveway that could have been clearer, but I can't fault Mike for that because we weren't home the first time he came by to do the job, and our driveway/parking area is oddly shaped. The hill was very well done, and the sidewalks and walkways exceeded expectations. Communicating with Mike was very easy. Definitely recommend this service."

"Fantastic! Dave Brodowski and his crew were superb. They worked long, non-stop days and did excellent work (.my dad was a contractor). They removed old siding, a backer used for the siding, and then the cedar shakes we had. They replaced any bad wood underneath. Then, they put new, better, thicker (waterproof) backing up, sealed the backing edges with tape; and put up the new siding. Took them 2+ weeks. They cleaned up multiple times. I would recommend them to anyone."

"After reading their good reviews, we called ASG Seamless Gutters, and received an appointment for an estimate (which was free) right away.  Two gentlemen arrived right on time for the appointment (no four-hour window of waiting).  They were shown the insurance appraisal for the repair.  After taking measurements and assessing the damage, we were given an estimate that was $425 less than the appraisal.  We scheduled an appointment for one week later.  Because a storm was expected on the day of the appointment, they rescheduled for the day before the original appointment.  Two gentlemen arrived the day of the appointment as scheduled.  On the day the estimate was given, we were told the work would take 2 1/2 to 3 hours.  The work was completed and all of the old gutters were removed in exactly 2 hours.  The amount of the estimate was the amount we paid.

"I hired Caring Contractors to power wash my parents house in Killingworth. The siding was covered in algae, and filth. Caring contractors came when they said they would, did the job as they said they would, and the house looks great now. I’ll hire them again if it needs it again in the future for sure."

"Was looking for a new company to handle our driveway snow removal. Jason quickly responded and left a very reasonable quote the same day. We've had two storms so far...he's come out on a very timely basis and has done a thorough job. Highly recommended!"

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Whether salt melts ice overnight will depend on how low the temperature drops. If temperatures stay around 30 degrees Fahrenheit, you can count on salt melting ice overnight. Otherwise, the lower temperatures get, the less effective the salt is in melting ice, and the more likely you’ll wake up with a slippery driveway the next day.

In most cases, it’s worth it to pay for professional snow removal. You can shovel the snow yourself, but it’s very labor-intensive and puts you at risk of injury or illness by performing exhausting manual labor in slippery conditions. Paying a professional removes that risk and saves you time and energy. Depending on your agreement, you could wake up to a cleared driveway and a car that’s ready to drive rather than have to get up early to do the work yourself.

A common mistake is you can let snow melt naturally in a window well. However, snow buildup in the well can damage your window frames and walls. The melting snow also poses risks of water damage as it may leak through into the basement. It’s important to shovel snow out of your window wells before too much snow is piled in there.

The cost to purchase a snow blower ranges from $100 to $2,300 on average, depending on the make, model, type, and age of the machine. More advanced two-stage and three-stage models, which are often self-propelled and include features like power steering and heated hand grips, can cost between $950 and $1,500 or more. If you only need a snow blower temporarily, you can rent one for an average of $75 per day from a local hardware store or rental facility.

While it is possible to remove snow from your roof without a professional, we don’t recommend it. Accessing your roof can be a dangerous task; pair that with slippery ice and snow that can be heavy to move, and you have a very risky problem on your hands. This dangerous situation becomes more high-risk when there’s a snowstorm or your roof has a steep pitch. To ensure that everyone stays safe, be sure to call a roof snow removal specialist to complete this job with the proper tools and equipment.
