"I am new to the area and needed a new chimney and to have work done on my roof. Ken Moreau came and gave me an estiment that I thought was very fair. He and his men were very professional and did the work in one day. They cleaned up the area that they used and left the yard in great shape. I highly recommend that if you are having and masonry or roof work done that you contact Ken and see what he has to say before you hire someone else.."

"I reached out to New England Foundation to have some foundation cracks repaired and to install a few Lally columns. I give this company an A+! They were punctual, professional, and very trustworthy from start to finish. Chase was especially professional, knowledgeable, and courteous throughout the entire process. The quality of the work exceeded my expectations, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I would definitely use New England Foundation again and highly recommend them to anyone in need of foundation repair services."

"Masonry work was above our expectations. Rick recommended a solution better than those of two competitive bidders, and Wendel's crew was in place and working 36 hours after the hire--which was remarkable. Good price, too. The work dovetailed, in structure and scheduling, with the work of our staircase carpenters. Overall very positive, but I would suggest better postwork cleanup including a more complete removal of unused materials (e.g. a giant sheet of plywood left behind)."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

In Springfield, quality masonry work—such as brick repair or chimney restoration—significantly enhances curb appeal and reassures buyers about a home’s structural soundness. This is especially valuable in historic neighborhoods, where original masonry is a key selling point. Addressing repairs before winter or the busy spring market also signals to buyers that your home is well-maintained and ready for MA’s challenging climate.

Helpful?

In Springfield, masonry work is most often completed from late spring to early fall, when temperatures are reliably above 40°F. This helps mortar and concrete set properly, reducing the risk of damage from freeze-thaw cycles. Many homeowners schedule chimney repair or brick restoration in the fall, preparing for Springfield’s cold winters and protecting their homes from moisture intrusion.

Helpful?

Masonry work in Springfield enhances comfort by sealing gaps that let in drafts, improving insulation during harsh winters, and preventing moisture issues common in the area’s humid climate. Well-maintained brickwork and foundations help control indoor humidity and reduce the risk of mold. This is especially important in Springfield’s older homes, where preserving historic masonry also maintains neighborhood character.

Helpful?

In Springfield, signs you may need masonry work include stair-step or horizontal cracks in brick walls, deteriorating mortar joints, bulging or leaning sections, white efflorescence, and moisture seeping through masonry. If you notice only surface stains or minor hairline cracks, a simple cleaning or sealant might be enough. Homes in Springfield’s historic districts often require brick repair to preserve original features.

Helpful?

When tackling masonry work in Springfield, ensure work is done in dry weather with temperatures above 40°F to prevent mortar issues. Protect the site from rain and debris, use secure scaffolding for multi-story homes, and control dust. If your home was built before 1978, be cautious of lead paint during brick repair. Always confirm the location of utility lines before any digging.
