Honest Plumbers do exist :) We've found a good one in Mike Rivers from Rivers Plumbing and Heating in Andover. When he came to the house for a free estimate (another provider on Angie's list wanted to charge $39 just to give me a quote), he was detailed and thorough. He took the time to explain the issues that he had found and provided options for us to consider for the repair. Rather than trying to sell us a new system, he was forthright and stated that he did not believe a system replacement was required. No high pressure sales or scare tactics -- just straightforward, honesty. Nice! His estimate was detailed and thorough.

For scheduling, we traded suggested dates and Mike was able to promptly perform the repairs on our agreed upon date. He takes pride in his work and it shows.

Mike is a former military serviceman so when given a chance, we always try to support a veteran owned small business over a large corporation.

We certainly will be using Rivers again and would recommend him to friends and family.

"Brian and his crew were great. Brian came out and gave a great estimate for everything I needed. He was very responsive via email as we worked to schedule a time for his crew to come do the work, which was mainly water tank and heating system maintenance. Brian brought Jim promptly and explained the work. They then pointed out a couple of things that they recommended replacing, one they just included in the original cost estimate and another they added on due to additional parts being purchased. "Seemed pretty inexperienced (although not sure that is unique these days given staffing shortages). Didn’t really understand the ask about the bathtub drain being clogged. Did correctly fix the shower issue, but when they replaced the fixture they didn’t screw it in all the way so the next few showers let a lot of water into the wall until we realized and fixed. Overall did the job and came in reasonable time but seemed to be very new to the job."
