"I bought a really nice regency gas fireplace from South Shore Fireplace and couldn't have been happier with the way they treated me and completed the installation. They were the most attentive and considerate companies I approached which is why I went with them. We couldn't get the time of day from other fireplace stores. These guys were right on the ball from the start. Spent a lot of time going over the different stoves and options that go with them all. The installation was scheduled and went very well. Installers were very thorough and clean. This was a complete installation, needed the chimney as well as the stove. Everything was done perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Recently, the stove I picked had a recall and I was informed and updated by Scott as soon as he had news. This actually went on for a couple of months but Scott would contact me every couple of weeks and let me know what was going on. When the replacement part came in, they scheduled the work IMMEDIATELY and I met Jon, one of the senior techs and installers. Jon was on time, meticulous and thorough. Very clean and organized as you would expect a master craftsman to be. The repair went very well and made my stove run better than ever before. When your happy with a job someone does for you, you hardly ever write a review but something turns sour, people can't write one quick enough. When I need something done, I go online and read all the awful reviews of probably great companies so I do not hire them. This review is for all of you that are like me and come here to get the low down on a business. Do not hesitate to go with South Shore Fireplace. It is very hard to find craftsman who really care about what they do and also so nice to deal with. South Shore Fireplace will be my go to guys for the rest of my life. "I had a rusted-out damper in my chimney. I contacted several companies and got estimates for the work, which included removing the rusted damper and replacing the chimney cap with a new stainless steel cap. 5 Star had the best price by far, and had a lot of experience doing this work. The gentleman who came out and gave me the estimate was very nice and very knowledgeable, answering all my questions. Scheduling the work was easy and they were able to accommodate my work schedule. The work was done this morning. They were very clean, showed me how to use the new chimney cap, and even cleaned out the chimney. They were in and out in less than an hour and the price was as estimated."

"Kevin provided absolutely superb service.  It was so good that my wife and I already recommended him to 2 other individuals.
A few weeks ago he helped me figure out where water was leaking into my home - we figured out it was coming from the chimney which had some cracks in the mortar.  He took lots of pictures while he was up on my roof so he could show me exactly what he was seeing and then provided a very cost effective solution.  The leaking has since stopped.  He also noticed some other minor issues with the chimney and fixed them free of charge.  While up there he noticed the flashing was off and re-caulked it as well - again at no extra charge.  This really demonstrated to me his desire to get the job done right.
Earlier today he came by to service my boiler.  Yet again demonstrating great service.  Not only did he bring his own drop cloths (because he remembered my basement was dirt and tracked through the house), but he took his shoes off when travelling between his truck and the basement.  He put down clean clay beneath areas that might leak (my oil tank is very old) and instructed me on how to check it over the next few days.  He also showed me in person and on his phone exactly what he did with the boiler.  He went way above and beyond and took the time to do the job right.  His price was (again) astoundingly fair.
When my pellet stove contract is up, I'll be renewing it under Kevin instead.  He's also already on my list to do the boiler and chimney cleaning next year. 
Kevin has clearly demonstrated not only how competent he is at what is does - but that he does it with integrity and an attention to detail very hard to find these days.  He obviously takes pride in his work and I'm thankful I'm able to use his services going forward - he's a rare find.
10/10 WILL be hiring again.

"They did a GREAT job! They first ran into permit problems in Brookline, but Rich (?) was able to fix that and didn't charge me extra. Then on the day of the work, they showed up and worked through to the next day and removed the whole chimney from the inside without making a dent in the house. I was MOST impressed with this as I have 2 small children so dust is a big deal to me. Since they are so prompt and efficiently, i was able to coordinate with my roofer to come in on the same day to seal up the roof. At the end of the day, you couldn't even tell that someone had removed a chimney just minutes before. Highly recommended!

"Initial call was returned promptly within a few hours. Adail came out the next day for an initial look, and a followup visit a few days later. We agreed on the quote and he and his team were able to start the next day. All work was completed in two days. They did a great job and did extra work at no charge (secured roof railing, patched extra hole). They cleaned the place up great when finished. No complaints!
