"Bob repaired a broken kitchen drawer, upgraded two others and added much needed hardware to my kitchen cabinets. He responded very timely to my initial email, which I very much appreciated. Bob contacted me when he was able to come out and arrived when expected. His work and attention to detail is excellent! We will call him again for other repairs and improvements and refer him to family and friends."

"Nick and Pete (owners) with G & O Const. are nothing less than professional. I hired G&O for a new roof and to side the home as well. Working with Nick from start to finish really made my life that much easier. Nick was on site multiple times a day to make sure everything was going smooth. The workers did an outstanding job with the roof. In and out within 2 days. I was nervous about the loose scraps and nails being around the yard (dog) and driveway (car tires). The clean up job after every work day was SPOT LESS. Picking out the siding was also easy with Nick and Pete being just a phone call away for ANY question I may have had. G&0 Const. is as skillful and efficient as one would want working on their home!! Call them today and you won’t be disappointed!"

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

Yes, egress windows can significantly add value to a home. By making basement and attic areas safer and more livable, they allow you to market these spaces as finished living areas, which increases your property's value. Many homeowners can recover the full installation cost, with some sources citing a return on investment of around 70%. The exact value added depends on your specific home, location, and adherence to local building codes. Beyond financial value, egress windows enhance functionality by adding natural light and comfort. They are also a crucial safety feature, often mandated by building codes to serve as an emergency exit.

Installing a window well costs anywhere from $500 to $1,500 or more. Adding an egress window and well runs about $3,900 on average. Adding a window well cover to the project can add $200 to $700. A well cover helps protect your egress windows from weather damage and keeps them clear of dirt, debris, and wildlife.

Egress windows are typically required for basements with habitable space or living quarters. Not all basements or lower levels require egress windows. However, egress windows are required in homes with living spaces such as bedrooms and living rooms in a basement. The International Residential Code and International Building Code require sleeping rooms to have a specific size egress window. Check your local building codes to confirm the requirements in your area.

A good U-factor for windows is 0.30 or lower, but they can range from 0.20 to 1.20. A general rule of thumb when it comes to the U-factor is that the lower, the better.

Yes, with modifications or the use of adapter kits for tricky placements.
