Customers say: Terrific value

"I HIGHLY recommend Pride's. Mike did an incredible job on our floors. He gave great advice when deciding on a finish. He really helped bring life back to our floors and our home. We had a few holes patched/filled and I can't even find them anymore. They are so well done! He was quick to respond when I first contacted him and was out for an estimate the next day. We asked for the job to be completed in 1.5 to 2 weeks and it was done in less than a week."

"R W Carpet & Flooring did an excellent job. Richard, the owner, was very easy to work with, and he went out of his way to communicate options and always got back to me as promised. His installers were very courteous and explained what they were doing so I didn’t feel out of the loop. My bathroom came out great and I’m glad I used R W Carpet & Flooring for this job."

Customers say: Quality work

"My floors look beautiful. I could not have hired a better company. Went with water based finish after a convention with Cliff. Worked the week I needed since the house was empty to do the whole first floor. I could not be happier with the difference from yellow orange floors from the oil based poly. Before and after color difference amazing."

"Pleasure to work with, always on time and efficient, the quality is top notch! Coordination in the field with multiple subcontractors to avoid conflict with flooring finish, the communication on the process and sequence was very professional and allowed us the builder to easily schedule other subcontractors. We highly recommend aqua flooring for all your flooring needs, Qua is turnkey when it comes his flooring scope."

"Perfection - NE floors. Talk to Roman. He came one day and priced out buffing my old floors and applying a new cost of matte refinish. The home had been used as an air B and B for years and the floors in living room and dining room and stairs were badly worn and dirty. Nothing I did with cleaners and micro fiber cloths helped. Roman gave me what I felt was a good fair price. He was ready to come a couple of days later He and his guys moved all my furniture out, buffed the floor with some kind of compound, Cleaned up snd put down a new matte finish in half a day. I had to let the floors dry over night but they looked like new in the morning sunlight. All the dirt and imperfections I could see in the backlight before was gone. The finish looked like new and is perfect I’m thrilled, he couldn’t have done a better job. They came back put all the furniture back in place. All along They Couldn’t have been more careful, polite or professional. I highly recommend NE floors."

"This was a small job — there was one small room (70 square feet) in the condo that I just purchased with a significantly damaged hardwood floor. All of the other floors were fine, except for deep scarring in three “stripes” another room from rolling drawers with damaged wheels. Norfolk did a beautiful job of refinishing the floor in the one room — it is gorgeous—and also repaired the three stripes in the other room for a price that proportional to the size of the job — all of the other companies had a project-minimum cost that was more than twice as much."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Moso bamboo, Phyllostachys edulis, is the most commonly used species for bamboo flooring. Moso bamboo is native to China and Taiwan, and it was later introduced to Japan and then the United States. In addition to flooring, Moso bamboo is used in textile production, and the shoots are edible. Moso is one of the fastest-growing plants in the world, which is why it’s an affordable and sustainable option compared to traditional hardwood.

Sheet vinyl is the cheapest DIY flooring, depending on the brand, style, and quality you choose. Not only is it one of the most affordable flooring products on the market, but it is also easy for most homeowners to install, as it only requires cutting, trimming, and gluing down to the existing floor surface. Some sheet vinyl manufacturers make a loose-lay sheet vinyl flooring that does not even need to be glued.

Carpet squares, tile stickers, painting or stenciling existing tile floors, and painting existing concrete flooring are also affordable options for DIY flooring.

There are many different types of carpets for you to choose from. When choosing a carpet, it’s essential to consider the following:

  • Fiber: Describes what your carpet is made of, such as polyester, wool, nylon, or acrylic.

  • Pile type: Explains how your carpet looks. Your carpet fibers can be looped, twisted, cut, or woven.

  • Pile height: Describes the length of your carpet. You can choose a low, medium, or high pile.

  • Density: Refers to how close yarn fibers are to each other.

It all depends on what you’re looking for in a floor. Cork flooring is certainly softer and more sound-absorbing than hardwood floors, and the two share very similar maintenance routines. That said, for some homeowners, the pristine appearance of hardwood floors may be more appealing, and they may be less prone to scratches and dents than cork flooring. Hardwood flooring also tends to be more expensive than cork flooring.

Your room doesn’t need to be completely empty to restretch a carpet, but you’ll need enough space that you can move around furniture to access the wrinkled areas and the wall where you’re reattaching the carpet. A contractor will move your furniture out of the way before they start the job, but you can save money by moving your furniture before they arrive.
