"Leo and team replaced our driveway, installed a patio, and built a retaining wall with an enclosed fence. They were on time, worked incredibly hard, and did a great job. He was flexible, understood our needs and overall a very nice guy. Highly recommend."

"I hired this company to install cobblestone border and a new asphalt driveway. George responded promptly to give us a quote and started the cobblestones about 2 weeks later and paved the driveway a few days later. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer job."

"I asked that some leaves be removed (with a blower) which they had on their truck. Without clearing the leaves it seemed that the seeds wouldn't be planted properly. The guys arrived on time and called ahead to let me know when they would arrive. I declined the fertilization because most fertilizers are petroleum based products. I wanted to keep my lawn "organic and wasn't sure that would be possible. The guys were here around 30-40 minutes. When I requested for them to park in driveway instead of in my neighbor's parking space. They said they would move if he arrived. They said removing leaves wasn't park of the job and then charged me an extra $150 for blowing the leaves off the area and bagging them. I thought that would have been part of the job in order to insure success. Since I wasn't using the fertilizer I asked if they could help set up a hose in order to irrigate the lawn. ( I am disabled and could not walk without pain) . They did not do that. I asked how to avoid having the birds eat the seed that they were spreading. They said keep it wet. I figured with the extra $150 dollars they should have been willing to help set this up. I was told to get some compost and spread it over the seeds to keep birds from eating it. This could have been done by them."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

In any asphalt paving project, base preparation is the most critical stage, as shortcuts here lead to premature failure. In MA, this means excavating deep enough to account for the 42-inch frost line and properly compacting the subgrade to 95% density. Proper grading for drainage is also essential, as is ensuring the asphalt mix is maintained at the correct temperature (275-300°F) during placement.

Helpful?

A standard residential driveway paving project in Brockton typically takes one to two days to complete. Larger projects, such as small commercial lots, can extend to a week. Keep in mind that timelines are influenced by factors like weather delays during the April to November working season and the time required for city permit processing, which can add several weeks to the schedule.

Helpful?

In Brockton, you can find several types of contractors for your asphalt paving needs. Full-service companies handle both residential and commercial projects from excavation to sealcoating. You will also find specialists focusing only on residential driveways, while others concentrate on large commercial lots or maintenance tasks like patching and line striping. Many regional professionals from nearby towns also serve the Brockton area.

Helpful?

Brockton’s climate significantly affects asphalt paving. The optimal season is from May to October, as installation requires temperatures above 50°F. The region's freeze-thaw cycles cause substantial pavement damage, and frost heave is a common issue in Brockton's clay-rich soils, demanding deeper base preparation. Heavy annual precipitation can also lead to scheduling delays, so planning is key for your project.

Helpful?

For an asphalt paving project in Brockton, key property details are essential. Information on soil composition, especially the area's common clay types, and existing drainage patterns is critical for a stable base. You should also identify the location of underground utilities and understand local zoning district requirements, including any specific setback rules, to ensure the project proceeds smoothly and complies with city regulations.
