"I recently hired Erivan for the first time to paint two rooms in my condo. He and his team did excellent work in a diligent and timely manner and at a very reasonable price. I will definitely hire him again and recommend him to anyone I know who needs painting done."

"EXCELLENT!! I could not be more pleased. Peter and his staff were wonderful to work with. From my first inquiry to get an estimate, to the final payment, they were punctual, professional, friendly, and most importantly, the work done was of high quality. Peter himself is a a very easy to work with he made the entire house painting experience super easy. He kept me fully informed along the way, and he and his crew were timely both with the initial estimating process and with the entire job. They even helped with color selection for my house, and I am beyond thrilled with the final results. They did a good amount of carpentry work (fixing rotted trim, repairing clapboards, etc) and everything looks great. There was absolutely no mess at all along the way. I have already asked Peter for a quote for some interior painting. I highly recommend them based on my experience."

"Rafael and his crew of painters worked with me to complete an exterior transformation of my home in Boxborough. The work included power washing and staining the clapboard southern front and eastern side of the house, as well as painting the house cellular PVC trim and the new front door surround on the southern exposure of the house. The painting was done with care and efficiency, while at the same time ensuring that the work was completed at a high standard. All this was done at a fair price. They will return in the new year, once construction work on the west side of the house is completed, to stain the clapboards on the northern rear of the house and western side, as well as paint the cellular PVC trim. I highly recommend Pontes Painting, they provide a professional painting service at a fair price."

Small jobs welcome

"I am very happy with the quality of the paint job that Silas Silva of KLS Painting company performed. He proved to be an excellent choice among 5 other pros who sent the quotes. He was hired for painting exterior of my house and fences. I was especially impressed with how he and his crew meticulously scrapping, sanding &oil primer of all of the imperfection of the existing shingles, replacing and repairing any areas need to be done before the paint job and the result was like I got a brand new house. My house can be considered big enough and aged so the work was very time consuming and thanks to KLS painting professionals. I strongly recommend KLS painting to anyone who needs quality & afforable painting job."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.

Yes, many fence repair services include finishing treatments like sanding, priming, repainting, coating, and rust treatment. These services help restore the fence's original appearance, protect it from corrosion, and enhance its aesthetic appeal. However, since offerings can vary by provider, it is best to confirm what is included before scheduling the work.

Staining pressure-treated wood is a recommended practice. While inherently resilient, it's not impervious to moisture and UV exposure. Staining treated wood is feasible and recommended for enhanced protection and longevity. Applying stain and sealant safeguards against degradation, prolonging its life span. These measures shield the wood from environmental threats while augmenting its aesthetic appeal, ensuring your investment endures the test of time.

To prevent a fence from becoming dirty, hose it down weekly and after every time you mow the lawn. This will prevent algae from being able to feed on grass clippings. You should also wash your fence once per season and trim plants so they don’t touch it. As a precautionary measure, you can treat your fence with a coating of a mold prevention product.
