"My rental home had extensive plumbing issues that were causing my tenant an emergency. Mike gave me a full diagnosis of the problems along with photos and explained the issues and repair options in a way that was easy to understand and with related costs. He provided great communication to me and my tenant throughout the job, was expeditious in getting the job started/completed and even worked with a separate septic vendor to coordinate the entire job to my satisfaction. He also sent photos upon completion. In all, the work was done effectively, efficiently and I believe I also paid a fair price for the amount of work required with just about zero stress on my part. Based on this experience, I would hire C & B plumbing again for a future plumbing job."

If you’re buying a new tank, the prices are similar for plastic ($500 to $2,500) and concrete ($700 to $2,000). Septic drain lines (or leach lines) are typically buried between 18 and 36 inches underground, and should be at least 6 inches below the surface. These pipes are perforated and surrounded by filtering materials like sand or gravel. Burying the lines at this depth helps minimize odors and allows bacteria and other biological processes in the soil to effectively treat the wastewater. Burying lines too close to the surface can cause issues unless the soil is very compact and stable.

The pressure in a well pressure tank should be set 2 to 3 PSI below the pump's cut-on pressure. The cut-on pressure is the lower number in the pressure setting (e.g., the '30' in 30/50 PSI) and is the point at which the pump starts. The cut-out pressure is the higher number, where the pump stops.

For example:

  • If your pressure switch is set to 30/50 PSI, the tank pressure should be 27-28 PSI.
