"If you ever find yourself in the unfortunate position of being *strongly encouraged* to replace your siding thanks to a friendly neighborhood inspector (thanks a lot, Spring weather!), look no further than Kansas City Siding and Windows. These folks deserve a standing ovation—and possibly a few awards for their stellar performance in home improvement! My family was thrown into the siding saga after Mr. Inspector decided to send a few less-than-friendly letters pointing out some minor bumps and bruises in our siding. We were asked (threatened) ever so kindly to fix it to pay the price, literally. Enter Scotty (the Body) 💪, the charismatic representative from KC Siding, who strolled into our home like he'd been here a time or two. We sat down to discuss colors, costs, and had a surprisingly engaging chat about family, food, and Scotty’s workout routine—seriously, I thought we were best friends by the end! Who knew siding could be so entertaining? After presenting one of the best quotes we’d seen (and the best guarantee), we decided to roll the dice and go with KC Siding and Windows. And boy, did we hit the jackpot! Sure, I had my fair share of anxiety about disrupting the neighborhood with the impending construction chaos. But owner Chet (you can bet on Chet) and his team were way ahead of me. He sent out lovely cards to our entire neighborhood, giving everyone a heads-up and providing contact info in case they had any issues. Talk about customer service! Throughout the project, they checked in with me every single day. The installers were not just friendly; they were attentive, and great to have around. When we encountered a bit of a language barrier, they pulled out Google Translate faster than I could blink to ensure I didn't wind up trapped in my garage by scaffolding! It was the most delightful conversation I’ve ever had while dodging construction equipment. And let me tell you, these guys weren’t just skilled; they were like robots with big hearts! Watching them install the siding was like witnessing a well-oiled machine in action—pure perfection. Even my dog sat at the window most days to watch them work. You could tell that every single person on the job genuinely cared about the work they were doing. In short, if you want your home to look fantastic and actually enjoy the people working on your home along the way, I highly recommend Kansas City Siding and Windows. Give them a call and tell them I sent you—I promise you’ll be in great hands."

PDQ Construction is a full service remodeling company and was formed in 2003. Mike Pressgrove is President and does the estimating as well as the marketing of the company. Mike brings many years of experience to PDQ. He has worked in the building industry for over 30 years and has done everything from framing to finishing work over the years. Mike has designations from the National Home Builders Association as a Graduate Master Remodeler, a Certified Aging in Place Specialist and a Certified Green Professional. Rick Hudkins is Vice President and is Project Manager. Additional E-mail - [email protected]. Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, Certified Graduate Remodeler, Certified Green Professional

"If I could give this review zero stars I would. On PDQ’s website they have a quote, “the bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the cheap price is forgotten.“ They put this on their website because their prices are not cheap so they are trying to sell people on the high quality of work that they do. However, in my experience with PDQ, the price was high and the quality was still extremely poor. The owner, Mike, was very personable and likable during the estimate and walk through process. Once he had our business, that all changed. First of all, he promised us several times that once his crew started our job he would not send them to a different job until ours was 100% completed. We were told the project would take about 3 months to complete. It took PDQ 9 full months to complete our job and, on multiple occasions, he sent the entire crew to other jobs so nothing got done on our house for a day (or days) at a time. (Actually, there were several things that didn’t end up getting completed until 5 months after Mike pulled his crew…a full 12 months after they were hired). 7 months in, he came in and did a walk-through with his crew and, before leaving, told them that they had two days to finish the job and then he was sending them on to the next job. The crew had more than two days worth of work left to do so they rushed through as much as they could and still didn’t get everything completed. They had to come back multiple times over the next two months to clean up, touch up, and complete work that was sloppily rushed through or incomplete. In the end, we ended up hiring a professional cleaner to come in and clean the entire house because of the mess they had made and we had to trash several pieces of furniture because they had been destroyed (see pictures). And during this whole process, Mike was very unpleasant to deal with and demanded payment in full, even though the job was not completed. Once the job is done, we noticed the final invoice had been altered from the signed contract with a pencil (Mike had gone back and written in several things after we had all signed). In the end, my spouse just wanted to be done with him so we ended up paying for additional items that were not done to our home (several thousands of dollars). I thought about writing a review at that time but really just wanted to be done and move on. However, we are now less than a year since the “completion“ of our project and have had multiple issues with their work. The floor that was installed in the basement has major damage and issues caused by the poor installation. We contacted a flooring company that sells the brand and had one of the brand installers come to our house who verified that the problem was with the installation, not the product. We have also had a door and a window leak extremely bad when it rains. I have sent pictures and videos to Mike at PDQ to let him know about the problems. I have called, texted, and walked in his office on multiple occasions over the last three months and still have not been able to get him to send a crew to fix the problems. In fact, other than one text message to acknowledge that he was receiving my texts, he won’t even respond or return a phone call. My next step is to contact a lawyer and get the legal system involved. Do NOT be fooled by the show put on by Mike prior to signing a contract. This owner does NOT care about you, your satisfaction, or the quality of his work. He just wants to get paid. Not all pictures and videos from our issues are attached, however, all attached have been provided to Mike on multiple occasions."

Siding questions, answered by experts

The average cost to replace siding is $10,500, but you should expect to pay an average of $12,000 to install new siding over stucco. The additional cost goes toward assessing the old stucco for damage, any necessary repairs before the new siding goes up, and the materials and labor required to install furring strips over the stucco to attach the new material. Even with this additional cost, installing siding over stucco is often more affordable than removing the stucco and starting over.

While homeowners' insurance can include coverage for siding, general wear and tear of siding is not covered. If your siding is rotting—especially because you haven’t kept up with proper siding maintenance—replacement siding will likely not be covered by your homeowners' insurance policy. Instead, insurance generally covers siding repair or replacement if your siding has been damaged by extreme weather, vandalism, fire, or some kind of collision, like by a vehicle.

Vinyl siding is durable, low-maintenance, weather-resistant, and available in various colors and styles. It also provides excellent insulation, improving energy efficiency.

Some homeowners use caulk on the edges of clapboard siding to help seal it. However, this method invites new problems. With so many gaps sealed, clapboard siding is often unable to drain properly and moisture from rain or other sources can build up inside. This can lead to rot and other issues over time. When repairing clapboards, it’s best to avoid caulking the final product. The exception is trim around windows and doors, which should be caulked to avoid moisture problems.

While bleach can be effective in killing mold, it may not fully remove mold stains from siding. Additionally, bleach can be harsh and may damage certain types of siding. It's recommended to use specialized mold cleaners or natural alternatives that are safe for your specific siding material as a part of your regular siding maintenance
