"Brian and his guys did a great job working on our new "old" house. We had knob and tube wiring and they rewired our entire house. He gave us a comparable estimate and was then ably to schedule us quickly and finish the job in a timely manner. Brian and Michael were professional and friendly and were willing to work with us in putting more outlets in as well as more light and fan rough ins. They then installed all our new ceiling fans and light fixtures. They cleaned up their work areas impeccably and surprising well. Would hire them for any and all electrical work."

"Short version: honest, reliable service at a very reasonable price.
Long version: I called John to ask for a quote on remodeling our bathroom.  He was one of several companies that I called.  All the larger renovations companies were quoting in the 12K to 7K range to demolish and install all new walls fixtures.  This was completely out of our range, so John was really our last hope.  His quote came in at $3,500 including all materials.  He gave a detailed quote for exactly what I asked and priced out materials and labor seperately.  We ended up spending a little more than he quoted, but only because his labor price was so reasonable that we were able to upgrade our fixtures from what we originally asked him to quote.  He was scheduled out pretty far advance, but told us this ahead of time, so it was perfectly fine for us.  He met with us at Lowe's to help us pick out our materials and we paid for them seperately and put them on Pick Up Later.  He showed up on the date scheduled on time as expected.  Work was completed during the time frame agreed upon.  I am more than thrilled with our new bathroom.  The work wasnt perfect the first time.  There were just a few very minor issues that cropped up.  However, as promised, John came back to fix the issues in a timely manner and now everything is great!  I highly recommend this company and plan to use them again to remodel our kitchen as soon as we get the chance!"

"Pre-sale In Home Visit
During the initial walkthrough, it became clear that Matt had a deeper understanding of window installation than the other sales folks we had worked with.  Matt listened to our concerns and provided what proved to be excellent advice  Additionally, he was able to identify areas where additional care was needed during the installation process.  The 'other guys' didn't seem sensitive to these issues.
The Product
We were disappointed with most vinyl products we saw.  Frankly, they looked 'cheap' to us.    We didn't want wood windows because we were concerned about their longevity.  We liked the fiberglass windows we saw.   The Armaclad brand which Matt carries has a better 'look' inside than the competing fiberglass window.  The other one has a rough finish which didn't look as good to us.
We settled on the Armaclad triple-pane Low-E 366.  We felt this was the best looking and most durable window we had seen.
The Price/Value
While shopping various vinyl and fiberglass windows, we noticed a difference in pricing between some brands.  We were interested in triple pane windows.   Some brands priced their triple pane windows only slightly more expensive than their double-pane windows.  Other brands had a very large (up to 50%) upcharge for triple pane.   We found that the Armaclad triple-pane seemed like a good value.  Overall, we paid about 30% more than the least expensive double-pane vinyl quote we received.
The Installation
The installation crew is spectacular.  I have never experienced a crew which has so much attention to detail.  Kevin, and his two sons worked very well together.  They were not in a hurry.  Matt had clearly communicated our concerns to them, and they took their time to work through each issue they encountered.
Summary
Replacement windows are expensive, and the typical sales process is time consuming and frustrating.  Matt's transparency, honesty, and consistency is refreshing.   We would be very happy to work with Matt (and his installation crew) again.

"Feinberg Construction met with us an reviewed our outlook for the space. They then provided a detailed quote and time estimate. The quote included demolition of the current basement walls, framing and drywall, electrical, some plumbing installation, painting and staining, some design work, tile, cabinet installation, and appliance installation. The project took approximately 8 weeks from start to finish, and we were very happy with the entire process!"

"The experience didn't go so good. I had to call them back, not once but several times. They responded real well, I mean, they were right there whenever I needed them. They didn't make the ceiling smooth; there were spots where it wasn't done well so they came back. I had one complete ceiling put up and then the other one was a patch job in the hallway. I had to call them back maybe three times to make it look right. But, other than that they were good. They were very responsive, if I had a complaint they were right there and came right out. Their price was also good. I would use them again in future if needed."

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, your house's age can affect how much it costs to install new light fixtures. If you have a very old house with an equally old wiring system, then chances are you'll need to update your wiring to accommodate your new fixtures. It can take anywhere from one to three or more hours to update an old house's wiring for a new light fixture, and since electricians charge by the hour, you'll want to factor this extra time in when budgeting for the project.

When hanging a chandelier, the distance from the ceiling depends on the room and height. For standard 8-9 foot ceilings, chandeliers in living areas or bedrooms should hang 7 feet from the floor. In dining rooms, the chandelier should be placed 30-34 inches above the table.

For higher or vaulted ceilings, adjust accordingly, ensuring the chandelier remains balanced and visually appealing. Aim for chandeliers in entryways to be 7 feet from the floor or adjust for high ceilings to make a grand statement. Always consider the room's function and the desired lighting effect to achieve the perfect placement.

The type of lighting you choose can have a big part in the aesthetic and function of your space. Ambient lighting refers to indirect or diffused lighting that evenly reaches most areas of the space. Task lighting illuminates specific areas, such as a workspace. Accent lighting draws attention to details in your home, and decorative lighting draws attention to itself.

It’s usually safe to use old lamps, but you should check the components first for signs of damage, including fraying wires, damaged wire insulation, and loose wire connections.

If you're unsure of a lamp’s age or have an antique lamp, it’s a good idea to have a lamp repair technician rewire it. This investment will ensure the electrical components are safe to use, reducing the risk of an electrical emergency.

You will likely need an electrical permit to install outdoor lighting, but it depends on where you live. Some municipalities don’t require a permit for electrical work, but you should call your building department or ask your outdoor lighting installer if a permit will be necessary. Your professional should pull the permits for you, if required, and close them out after the work is done. Either way, you will be responsible for the permit fee, which typically falls between $50 and $150.
