"Hardwood was installed in whole lower level of our home and done ahead of schedule. So we hired them to lay tile in our two upstairs baths. Everything was done as a perfectionist would do it. The whole house looks great and the price was lower than many of the quotes we received. Trey came with a great recommendation from my son-in-law who used him to lay the hardwoods in his home (which also looked great.) Definitely recommend and would use again."

"We were very pleased with the work Top Notch Tile did for us. They tore out and installed new tile in our walk in shower. They did a fantastic job and kept everything clean in the process. Father and son were always prompt, courteous, professional and informative. I would highly recommend this duo and will call again on future tile needs."

"I have relied on Ron to fix/repair many issues with my home. He found the source of a sneaky roof leak and redid all the flashing around my fireplace chimney (which another contractor did poorly the first time), repaired a crack in the chimney cap and redid the grouting in the stack. He completely remodeled my bathroom, which required demolition out to the 2x4's, removal of rotted subfloor, mold/mildew mitigation, laying custom tile and wall treatments, plumbing, and the creative solution for many, many problems he discovered along the way. Recently, he repaired a section of my roof that took some damage from a fallen tree. I've also relied on him for many smaller "honey-do" projects. He is a dream to work with, always professional, leaving the worksite cleaner than when he found it, and communicating his ideas clearly with no suprises. He is my no-brainer go-to or any future improvement projects needed for my mid-century home. ."

"Edward and his team placed LVP flooring in my house recently. They did our half bath, laundry room/mudroom, and our kitchen all in a day's work. The flooring looks great. The customer service was excellent and they were quick to respond when I had a minor issue."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Flooring transition strips can be secured to the subfloor using glue, nails, or screws. For a more secure installation, especially in high-traffic areas, using screws or nails is recommended as it reduces the risk of slippage. However, if aesthetic appeal is a priority, glue provides a cleaner, more seamless finish without any visible holes or screw heads.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.

How long painted tiles last ultimately comes down to the quality of the paint job and how much wear and tear the tiles get. It’s possible the paint job will only last about six months if the tiles are in a high-traffic area and they weren’t properly cleaned, sanded, and primed prior to painting and sealing. Well-painted tiles in a low-traffic area should last at least a year.

Yes, unfortunately, it is normal for wall and floor tiles to crack, especially when you drop heavy items on tiled floors or place heavy objects on them. Tiles are also more susceptible to cracking when ceramic tiles designed for walls are installed on floors, as these are often not strong enough to handle heavy loads from foot traffic and furniture. Similarly, tiles that are installed incorrectly, lack adequate subflooring, or have other installation problems are prone to cracking. To avoid these problems and the inevitable repair and replacement costs they bring, always hire a professional for tile work and follow best practices for installation.

Mortar and thinset both serve the same purpose—tile adhesion—but have different compositions and use-cases. Thinset is heatproof and presents a wide range of possibilities due to the added polymers. Mortar is typically used for bonding stones and brick. Thinset is rarely used outside, while mortar is rarely used inside.
