"We are extremely pleased with the work Brent, his crew and subs did. I was extremely nervous about hiring a contractor because of all the bad stories you hear. After doing research and meeting with different contractors we chose Brent and Centennial Construction because of his ability to answer our questions with total honesty and knowledge. He was not the least expensive contractor, but we felt very comfortable that he understood our concerns, addressed them and would do a great job for us."

"I would recommend R Wright Construction to anyone who is needing any kind of work done. George, the owner, was very hands on with the whole production. His employees were wonderful. Any people he had come in to do wiring, insulation, construction, roofing, etc. were all extremely nice and knew their jobs and did them on time. I had never had anything like this done before, and he made it easy to work with him and I will definitely be calling him back for other projects that I need coming up."

"This was absolutely the best experience I’ve had with a contractor. The owner and his crew were the greatest to work with each day. Their work and their clean up was above par. From the first meeting, to the design process and choosing materials, I was kept informed each day what to expect and everything was done on time as promised and far exceeded my expectations. I will hire them again!"

"My old chimney required a lot of work. The owner made sure the job was done right. I am very satisfied, and believe I got my moneyâ s worth. Both the owner and his crew were very polite and respectful, and cleaned up their work area well before leaving. The repaired chimney looks good."

Customers say: True professional

"It was experience great.  We had a not so great one with another contractor when we did our kitchen, so we know what good service is.  He was a great communicator and kept us informed at each step of the process.  At the end, he was unhappy with some of the grout work.  We could see nothing wrong, but he insisted that it needed to be reworked, and he oversaw that process."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Professionals such as architects, general contractors, electricians, HVAC specialists, and interior designers are crucial to effectively planning and executing significant renovations.

You have three options in terms of professionals who can draw up blueprints: a draftsperson, an architect, or a structural engineer. A draftsperson can sometimes draw up plans for new construction, but they more often work from approved plans for alterations or to provide 3D drawings. Architects are usually the best option for standard residential construction projects. Structural engineers might be necessary for custom home builds or for alterations that could affect your home’s structural integrity. Draftsmen cost the least of the three, followed by architects and then structural engineers.

Above all, the downside to building a new house is a longer timeline. You need several months to finish the build, depending on the supply chain and labor availability in the meantime. Building a home compared to buying one is also more expensive, both in the building process and when it comes to mortgage rates and property taxes.

Regular meetings, reviewing drafts, and providing input on materials help align the project with your vision.

When conducting space planning, building codes and regulations need to be considered. As long as you are taking them into account and discussing them with the architect, you should be able to do your space planning appropriately.
