I was disappointed in the workmanship of the bathroom, not the design. Larry subcontracted the work and allowed the Granite people (Specialized Granite) to put in 2 different types of granite and a broken backsplash that was glued together. He told us everything was okay but never came to the house to supervise the work or see how it was going. If I had subcontractors working for me, I would make sure that the work was being done properly. I am not happy or satisfied.

We waited a long time to remodel these two 70's era bathrooms because we had a bad experience with a kitchen remodel about 10 years ago. We finally decided to take the plunge and hired Larry Friedenson to do the job. They are busy, so it took a few months to get the job scheduled, but we are thrilled with the results. Beto and his crew did a beautiful job with all aspects of the work--tub, shower and vanity installation, flooring, tiling, paint, electricity and plumbing. Beto checked in with us when they had questions and always found a way to make our ideas work. His crew was hard-working, pleasant, and respectful of our space in a small house. The bathrooms are actually better than we hoped for. We highly recommend Friedenson Design.

It did not go very well. It is not finished yet. They never did get it right. They just weren't organized. They measured it but didn't get the measurements right. The people that made the shades went by his measurements and they didn't fit and there wasn't really enough room to put Roman shades in there the way they planned so she didn't really think about it ahead of time. The people who actually made the shades did fine. It was just the lady that interior decorated it that messed up.

It was one of my worst experience in my life. I thought they had died.They took the order and the money but failed to communicate. The design aspect was bad ,they didnt ask questions on the design we wanted. They appeared six months later after the deal. It was obvious they were amiddlemen.The lady who came up didnt know the type of grapes and how to fix them. They were just rude.They did the drain poorly. The balance on the scale was not right we had to do it ourselves. We ended up spending more.They absolutely failed.

I loved her and I would use her again. I feel like she really spent the time to figure out what would be good for our windows. Everything was custom made and she helped me pick out the fabrics.

First mistake was paying for the entire order upfront. This was requested  by Barbara Friedenson Design. 
It was estimated to take about six weeks after the order was placed.  Months went by before they actually arrived.  I scheduled a day off from work for the installation.  Barbara called a few hours before the install, to tell me they were out of state with a sick relative and would not be there. Another install date was chosen and another day off from work was scheduled.  I called Barbara that day to confirm and she told me her husband was very tired and would not be able to make it.  Unbelievable...  Yet, another reschedule and another day taken off from work.  Larry did arrive with blinds/shutters.  But, the entire order was not there.  Only about half the blinds were there.  "Have to reorder".  Several more weeks went by and they finally arrived.  I asked a friend to meet Larry at my home on the day of install. At this point, I was so disgusted with the lack of professional behavior and endless excuses, I didn't want to be in the same room. I would never use or recommend Barbara Friedenson Design.

The initial process went well. However, Barbara indicated that maybe they would be ready some time in October. We didn't hear from them in September or October to even give us an update. So in November I began calling them. On one of these calls I told her I wanted my order. Her response was either like everyone else or so does everyone else. Also, she told me that her main seamstress had been sick and was therefore, behind. She didn't mention the secondary person. As early as November, Barbara stated that the blinds had come in but in the wrong size (she thought) but I'd need to talk to Larry. Anyway they had to be sent back. In our most recent conversation, Larry said that the blinds were sent in the wrong color!!!! And had to be returned. This conversation occurred in December after Christmas!

The valance is ready according to Barbara (just before Christmas). However, there's a new glitch....Larry has been trying to reach the blind manufacturer to find out what's going on. He hasn't been able to reach them because there is a problem with the phone lines in California where the company is located. According to Larry even the local representative hasn't been able to get through to the company.

Just as disconcerting to me was there lack of communication. As a customer I expected to be kept abreast of where we were in the process. A periodic update would have been nice since they were so far behind. Every response made by this business was done after a call from me.

Rating Scale:

Responsiveness: towards the end they attempted to update on status of the blinds.

They returned my calls. They didn't initiate any calls to me and for that reason I've given them an F. Punctuality: They arrived on time but they didn't deliver the products in a timely fashion and for that reason I've given them an F.

Professionalism

Because of that comment referring to others wanting their orders, I've given them an F.

Quality

I don't know yet. Finally the merchandise has arrived. The merchandise is very good-both blinds and top treatment.

"The customer at the onset was told that her order would take time to complete, Everything we do is custom, fabric has to be ordered, time set aside for the workroom to complete the job. Her fabric was out of stock we had to wait. We pride ourselves on our workmanship, design quality and care with each customer. I am sorry for any inconvenience she may have experienced, but in the end, The job came out perfect."

It didn't go as well as I would have hoped.  The husband and wife team was a bit late, I disliked that they were overly critical, and the information that they provided to me wasn't anything that I hadn't known prior to our meeting.  Ultimately, I decided not to go forward with the company because I was so put off by the initial encounter.

She was a good resource for what I needed to have done. She had some good designs, and she is good with interior design, and colors. Sometimes it is hard to get a hold of her, but when she did come, she was good.

this professional does not belong on angie's list.  I have used many good vendors from angie's list and I hate to see angie's list recommend this unprofessional vendor.  our advise, would be to anyone considering Barbara friedenson, to read this review and not

use her.   Even her installer (totally independent) commented that he hears the same complaints about her a lot!!

Three weeks late. Snow had much to do with late delivery. I had to do the calling to determine the times of delivery. Was disappointed twice on delivery dates.

Provider was very responsive and offered lots of fabric selections.  The factory shipped the incorrect amount of fabric for one of the windows so we were not able to meet the deadline we had agreed to.  This was not the provider's fault.  Once the correct fabric arrived, the provider worked diligently with the seamstress to get the work completed.  Overall, we were pleased with the service.

She had 3 different things.  She had to schedule ones, the battery was bad on her car, schedule it again, she had fever, schedule it again, her father was sick and the fourth time she finally came.  I am not in a huge rush but if she cancelled the fourth time, I would just say give my money back.  We have not done that much, making a few paint colors and a little decoration.  She showed up, she did what we needed, it worked out.
