"This was our 1st "shop-at-home" experience with carpet installation. It could not have gone better. Our sales person was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We told him what we were looking for and he was able to provide multiple samples in both the color and price range we wanted. It was quick and super easy. We purchased carpet for two rooms and a stairway runner Installers were also very friendly and professional. They were very detailed and wanted the job to be perfect. I have no complaints and will definitely use Mr. Carpet again."

"

We have used Exposition Carpet for several carpet installations over many years in our finished basement, and have consistently found the best pricing, ease of schedule and quality installation thru them. I especially like that it's a family business and you are dealing directly with owners and not with a salesman that doesn't even know who his/her boss is. The installers have worked their for years and that says a lot.

After going through a back porch remodel enclosing to a mudroom, we wanted a pet friendly, water resistant and durable floor so we went with vinyl plank. The store had many options, and time frame to get material was within a week. We checked out a 'sale' prior at a trendy well known Lincoln Avenue store, only to be met with double the cost and attitude. So we ended up back at Exposition and it was a done deal within 2 weeks.

I thought I had reviewed them on AL, but realized I hadn't when the list asked if members had any feedback.

We wouldn't hesitate to use them for any flooring needs.

"We were planning on refinishing our floors and installing hardwood in one room. Orest was a pleasure to work with and very affordable! He came out right away and provided an estimate very quickly. We were going to sign a contract with him, but we ended up having to put our floors on hold for a while. Anyways, I would highly recommend Orest to anyone looking to do their floors!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Porcelain and ceramic tile are two of the longest-lasting kitchen flooring materials. However, while these materials can withstand a good amount of daily wear and tear, they’re likely to crack if you drop something heavy on them, and they’re pricier than many other options. On average, installing a ceramic tile kitchen floor costs between $1,240 and $11,250. Other durable kitchen flooring options include natural stone and concrete.

Carpet tiles come with a preexisting adhesive backing, which means installing them is as simple as peeling off the paper and sticking them down where they need to go. In other words, no. You won’t need to purchase any separate glue to get your carpet squares situated. It’s already built into the carpet tile itself.

Sheet vinyl is the cheapest DIY flooring, depending on the brand, style, and quality you choose. Not only is it one of the most affordable flooring products on the market, but it is also easy for most homeowners to install, as it only requires cutting, trimming, and gluing down to the existing floor surface. Some sheet vinyl manufacturers make a loose-lay sheet vinyl flooring that does not even need to be glued.

Carpet squares, tile stickers, painting or stenciling existing tile floors, and painting existing concrete flooring are also affordable options for DIY flooring.

Natural options like stone tile, hardwood, cork, bamboo, and natural linoleum are among the healthier flooring choices available. On the flip side, carpet and carpet padding are among the biggest culprits when it comes to releasing potentially hazardous chemicals into your home. Artificial, manufactured options like vinyl and engineered wood may also contain and emit VOCs.

Yes. So-called “floating” cork floors can be installed over concrete subfloor, though a polyethylene vapor barrier is required. This type of installation is achieved using the glue-down tiles, which are trickier for a DIY approach, so consider calling a professional to help you if you’re planning to install your cork floor over concrete.
