"I found this to be the perfect customer service experience! Joe was professional, friendly and informative. He quickly diagnosed my problem and immediately fixed it. Fortunatley it wasn't a big issue but rather a couple of small issues. He also carried in ten 40 bags of salt for me. He explained some features and showed me how to manually recharge the softener just in case it ever needs it. I HIGHLY recommend Water Specialties Group. this is how a service call should be done."

"Seemed like they were unprepared for the job. They had to use our paper towels, our 409, our broom, our glass cleaner, our catch pan, our heavy boxes too hold the sink in place, while the caulking dried. They also left a mess of sawdust in a couple of our drawers...probably should have let them use our shop vac to clean up. Otherwise craftsmanship was good."

"We have been using Patrick's services since 2016 in our properties as well a relative's property. He has fixed things like unclogging a drain to major sewer repairs. Patrick is always available when we call and his prices are reasonable. He is very reliable and trustworthy, has the best prices compare to other plumbers and has diagnosed problems other plumbers have missed. I cannot say enough about this company. Definitely recommend and will continue using as well."

"We are new homeowners and had a hole in our septic tank made of concrete block, which was sending wastewater into the foundation/basement of the home. It was my first time using Angie's List, and I would recommend Illinois Sewer and Drain to anyone. Joe and his team of experts solved our issue immediately at an affordable price. They even went above and beyond to install a sump pump in our basement to help with the rain water. Quality work!!"

"When we bought this house we were planning to renovate the basement.  The previous owner had represented that it had never taken on water.  The first weekend we were here, however, a torrential rainstorm caused the basement to flood.  We realized we needed to waterproof it before we could do anything else, and decided that drain tiling was the safest way to go.
Greg was phenomenally responsive from the start.  He was very clear about what needed to be done and how they would do it.  He also described some optional work but was explicit that it was optional and if it didn't fit within our budget that was that, and he wasn't going to push it the slightest bit.  His quote blew away the bigger, well-known firm and was less than or on a par with some others.  He also agreed to demo the walls for a slight extra charge, which otherwise would have been a huge convenience for us.  Between then and the start of work I emailed him repeatedly with various questions and he responded almost instantly.  When his workers took down the paneling we got the unpleasant news that we had huge cracks in the walls that would need to be tuckpointed and in one area a big chunk of foundation was jutting from the wall.  That section of the foundation would need to be replaced and a support beam installed.  We were more or less at Greg's mercy at this point -- we weren't going to halt work and bring in a series of guys to quote the tuckpointing & repair -- but Greg gave us an estimate of $2,600-$3,000.  We can't know for sure, but suspect that this price was more than fair, and Greg stuck to it even though we think the work turned out to be more than they expected.
The project manager, Jim, was fantastic to work with throughout, very communicative and accomodating, and the crew of five guys or so was extremely friendly and professional.  All in all, A Perfect Crawlspace was a pleasure to work with and we could not be happier with the results.

"We have a 1920s bungalow with a cinderblock foundation and routine seepage issues.  Interior drain tile was also an option but with a partially finished basement, I think ultimately would have been more expensive after putting walls back together, etc..  And, personally i'd rather stop the water before it enters the house.  I felt as though i was getting the "cookie cutter" solution from the other highly rated angies list waterproofers and they definitely like to nickel and dime on their expensive battery backup systems.  Chuck spent a considerable more time at the house, didn't give us the BS sales presentation with all of the pamphlets, gave us a timely quote, and ultimately just made us feel the most comfortable.
The job went very well and I wouldn't hesitate to use High Tech for additional jobs in the future.  Chuck is very professional and responsive, easy to work with.  It took a while to coordinate with the excavator which is subbed out, but we were in no big rush and everything worked out great.  The job took four days.  We've had some heavy fall rains and not a drop of water in the basement.

"Amazing company to work with and amazing products! Robert was extremely professional from start to finish, very knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of my questions. He thoroughly reviewed my issues, home set up, and tested the water to ensure that I was getting a filtration system that would be tailored to meet the needs of my home. The difference in water quality is remarkable. The installation was done with high quality products so I am looking forward to enjoying this improved quality of living for many years to come."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

A single shower consumes an average of over 17 gallons, while brushing your teeth with the water running uses up to four unnecessary gallons. Watering the lawn spreads hundreds of gallons of water across the yard each time. Limiting water usage in these areas can significantly cut down your water bill.

Whether you need a permit or license for a water softener installation depends on your location, as requirements vary significantly. Some municipalities require the installer to hold a plumbing license, some mandate a permit and an inspection, and others require both. In some areas, no special permit or license is needed at all.

To determine the rules in your area, you can contact your local building department or consult a local water softener installer or plumber. Often, only certified professionals are authorized to pull the necessary permits, and they will typically handle the entire permitting process for you. Regardless of local laws, it is always recommended to hire a licensed professional to ensure the system is sized and installed correctly. You can use Angi’s state licensing tool to check an installer’s license status.

Whether you need a license or permit for water softener installation depends on your location. Some municipalities require the installer to hold a plumbing license, while others may only require a permit and an inspection. In some cases, both a permit and a licensed installer are necessary, and some areas have no requirements at all. Often, only certified plumbers and electricians are allowed to pull the necessary permits. To find out the specific regulations in your area, you can contact your local building department. Alternatively, a local water softener installer or plumber will be familiar with the requirements and can typically pull the permits for you. The most effective way to fix hard water in your shower is by installing a whole-home water softening system. This system treats water as it enters your home, removing the minerals that cause hardness before they can reach your shower or any other fixtures. While this is the most comprehensive solution, other methods are often temporary fixes. For a more affordable and shower-specific option, you can install a water-softening showerhead or a shower filter. However, these filters are generally less effective and may not remove all the contaminants that lead to limescale and hard water stains. By implementing a water softening solution, you can expect a reduction in mineral deposits and enjoy the benefits of cleaner-feeling hair and skin.

A water softener removes minerals from your drinking water and can make your house water softer. These softeners are designed to extend the lifetime of your plumbing system while also making water safer and more palatable for drinking. Hard water, which is water with a heavy amount of suspended particles, can also cause hair damage, skin irritation, and buildup in your pipes.
