"Rick Ray Plumbing is the best in town! They saved me thousands of dollars on my project. They’re fast and efficient. They’re reasonably priced. They treat your plumbing like it’s their own. They go over and beyond to give you great service. They put an AVV in under my kitchen sink and all the gurgling is GONE! I’m so happy I found these guys! They’re honest, friendly and trustworthy. No job is too large or small. They will get it done and done right. They stand by their work. They leave your area clean and picked up. I would never call anyone else for my plumbing issues. "We are pleased with our bath remodel that included a new tub, tub surround and wainscot walls. There was one small problem with the walls due to the ceiling and walls not being plumb however they did go above and beyond by doing more than was was agreed upon by making plumbing improvements, installing a new lighted medicine cabinet and repairing a light fixture. They were very courteous and the installer even made a suggestion for a change that we agreed would be better."

"as installed in 2010, which is correctThe plumbers did arrive about 1 hour and 40 minutes into the 2 hour window.  I explained the problem.  They asked me to show where the drain went in the basement.  They estimated it was about 55 feet from the kitchen sink that would need to be cleaned.  They said they would perform a whole house plumbing inspection while there.  While one plumber worked on the drain the other checked for natural gas leaks, there were none, and checked the water heater.  They told me the water heater was installed in 2010, which is correct.  He also told me the anode rod needed replacing.  I googled anode rods and found 2 references from plumbing supply companies that verified everything he told me.  They also sold me an enzyme to maintain the drain.

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Yes, a toilet, sink, and shower can share the same vent. This is a common plumbing practice that can simplify installation and save space. When sharing a vent, it's important that the toilet is located downstream from all other fixtures. You will also need to ensure the vent pipe is large enough to handle the demands of all connected fixtures without compromising its effectiveness. Because requirements can vary, you should always check your local building and plumbing codes. Consulting a qualified plumber is recommended to ensure the vent is properly sized, installed, and adheres to all local regulations.

It is generally safe to stay in a house that smells like sewage for a short time, but you should get the problem fixed as soon as possible. While the level of sewer gas is usually low enough to only cause minor symptoms, prolonged inhalation can lead to headaches, nausea, or respiratory irritation. High levels of gas exposure can be more dangerous, and high concentrations of methane—a component of sewer gas—can pose an explosion risk in enclosed spaces. If you smell sewer gas in your home, ventilate the area and call a professional to locate, assess, and fix the problem, as it will not go away on its own.

Most of the time, the answer is yes, but with an enormous asterisk. While an increase in iron deposits isn’t likely to harm you if consumed, that doesn’t mean you should drink any brown water from your faucets. In our book, it’s better to be safe than sorry and opt for bottled until the issue is resolved.

The cost to clean a sewer line is about $370, ranging from about $190 to $550 on average. The specific cleaning method and the problem's severity will impact the project's overall cost. Some of the most common sewer line cleaning methods include:

  • Snaking or rodding: $100–$250

  • Hydrojetting: $350–$600

  • Chemical treatments: $600–$1,000

  • Repair or replacement: $1,000–$7,500

PVC pipes are easy to cut out and replace if you have minimum plumbing knowledge. To replace a portion of PVC pipe by yourself, use a hacksaw to cut out the damaged portion and empty out the water. Then, attach the new pipe and secure the ends with the proper PVC pipe fittings to prevent any leakage.
