"Danny and his staff at Modern Quality Flooring have delivered quality craftsmanship multiple times while working on floors in our home. They are always quick to deliver estimates, give reliable timelines, arrive early to complete their job, and do beautiful work. They have installed wood flooring throughout entire floors in our house, patched, sanded and stained existing hardwood, and are planning to install laminate flooring in our basement next. We trust them to guide us in all future flooring endeavors."

Customers say: Quick response

"Alex and Mario took on a very complicated rebuild of my floors and subfloors due to extensive water damage. The results are exceptional! I will have them back shortly to perform sanding, stain and sealing to the upstairs wood flooring to match to finish the special touches they provide - Thank you from the bottom of my heart"

"Very happy with the new floor! Mike came out the next day and even went with me to Floor & Decor to help pick out the new flooring! He got the job done in 2 days and made sure that everything was good before he left. He even installed some round moldings at the bottom of the baseboards that he had on hand to polish off the new floor! Excellent work, would definitely hire again!"

" A+++ review !!!  It has been one of  the best experiences I have ever had!!! I left a message on a Saturday evening at 6 pm and received a call back a few minutes later.  Unbelievable!  Mary was so fantastic and coordinated everything and kept me informed  all the time.  Bob came out to show me samples and measure and he was very professional and very informative.  He also spent a lot of time with me.  I had one major issue and that is a floor to ceiling wall unit which takes up a whole wall and is not able to be unassembled. Bob said that was no problem that the installers could go under the posts or cut around them and it would not be noticeable.  That is precisely what happened!!! The installers were so precise and so professional and they worked so very hard and did an absolutely fantastic job.  I had just had my condo painted and I have very heavy and large furniture and I was worried about damage to the new paint in doorways and baseboards, but very little needs touching up.  I wanted really good plush carpeting as I hadn't replaced my carpet in 28 years.  By being a member of Angie's List I was able to use the $100 coupon offered in the August catalog and I also received a 10 % senior discount and extra thick padding at no additional charge. The nylon carpet I purchased is guaranteed for 20 years, so it will most likely outlast me. This carpet is like heaven to my feet!!!  I just love it!!!  Please do not hesitate to contact Mary at Mr. Carpet Shop at Home.  You will not be disappointed.

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

To prep a floor for painting, start by sweeping and cleaning any loose debris that could puncture the protective material. Take out as much furniture as possible. Then lay plastic, canvas, rosin paper, or masonite sheets across the room, securing them at the edges with masking tape. Plan your painting so that you minimize the chances you’ll step in and track any splatters.

Yes, adding new flooring can add significant value to your home, especially hard floors like wood, tile, vinyl, or laminate. It is one of the quickest ways to make a room look refreshed and new, which is a valuable update for those planning to sell or seeking an interior design change. If you update your flooring close to when you sell, you could see a return on investment (ROI) of up to 70%.

As with anything you buy, be wary of prices that seem too good to be true. Some low-cost flooring products can contain chemicals that release harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in the form of fumes that can be inhaled or dust that can cause skin conditions.

Even good-quality products can be dangerous for DIY-ers who don’t take proper precautions. Always carefully read manufacturer instructions and wear the recommended protective gear when working with paints and other chemicals. You can also hire a local garage flooring pro with the experience and equipment needed to perform the installation safely with no lingering fumes or debris.

Your floor sees a lot of action: foot traffic bringing in dirt from outside, pets with muddy paws, kids dropping food crumbs, and more. All of this makes your floors dirty, and if you don’t keep up with cleaning them, staying on top of the dirt will become more challenging.

There are a few different types of finishes to choose from for the final step of the project.

Water-based polyurethane sealants emit fewer odors and fumes but dry quickly, which can pose a challenge when trying to get a smooth coat. Oil-based polyurethane sealants let out more odors and fumes into the air (it’s especially important to wear a respirator if you choose this type), but they take longer to dry, which can be more forgiving during the finishing step.

Some may prefer wood oil to polyurethane because rather than creating a layer, it becomes part of the wood. Wood oil takes longer to dry, and is less resistant to wear and tear; however, it creates a natural-looking result by enhancing the grain of the wood.
