"Called company on Monday and got an appointment for an inspection on Wednesday. That following Monday, the technician arrived and went through each step is sealing off the concrete foundation to the water leak. The fix worked well and was put to the test with the recent record rains. Not one drop of water came into the basement."

"It is difficult to find a great company when you need a responsible business to come in to your home in an emergency.. Well look no further than Benjamin Franklin Plumbing… I was pleasantly impressed with their work ethics… the company called me with the names of the technicians and their arrival time… They arrived on time… introduced themselves..When they entered our home they covered their shoes.. and ask to be directed to the basement… they assessed the problem and immediately advised Us of the issue and the work and what it would cost… We agreed and the workers started removing the old water heater and installing the new American made hot water heater.. they tested the water in the house for chemicals and went over everything with Us… The men were courteous, knowledgeable, informative and respectful.. We are very pleased with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.. and will call them for all Our Plumbing needs in the future…!"

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Basement toilets don’t always need a pump. However, it is the most common setup because plumbing systems use gravity to move waste away from the home. Basement toilets often sit below the home’s main sewage system, and installing a sewage ejector pump pushes the wastewater and sewage up to the main sewer line. Alternatively, you can use an upflush or macerator toilet that breaks down the waste and pushes it straight to the main sewer line rather than via a sewer line from the bathroom.

Since basements are prone to water and moisture issues and the resulting problems can be expensive to repair and potentially damaging to your home, basement waterproofing is almost always worthwhile. Even for homes that haven’t experienced water infiltration, waterproofing the basement is insurance against facing expensive repair bills in the future. All basements will leak at some point, so fixing drainage issues and taking steps to prevent moisture and water infiltration is wise.

A sump pump can be added to an existing basement. To do this, you will need to use a jackhammer or sledgehammer to break up the concrete and dig a pit. You will also need to create a hole in your basement wall to run the discharge pipe through.

Yes, you can add a battery to your existing sump pump. There are batteries available that can be plugged into your existing system; however, most battery backups come as a complete system and act as a replacement for your existing sump pump.

Ideally, your sump pump discharge should run down a natural downhill slope 10 to 20 feet away from your home’s foundation. However, if your property is naturally flat, that might not be an option. Instead, you may be able to discharge it into a neighborhood storm drain or a nearby creek or pond. If that’s not possible, consider burying it underground.
