"Felt pressured to spend additional money with them that possibly could have been avoided - turned out sump pump was working, but as it was older, pressured to replace with them. After every logical presentation, there was an additional angle presented to influence spending. Felt rushed"

"LUIS WAS PROFESSIONAL FROM THE MOMENT HE WALKED THRU THE DOOR TO ASSESS THE PROBLEM AND GIVE ME A WRITTEN QUOTE. HE AND HIS TEAM WERE PUNCTUAL, SHOWED A STRONG WORK ETHIC AND CLEANED UP EACH DAY OF THE PROJECT. I WAS AMAZED AT THE AMOUNT OF WORK INVOLVED IN INSTALLING A SUMP PUMP, REPAIRING A WATER SEEPAGE PROBLEM OF MANY YEARS. I FEEL THAT I GOT MORE THAN A FAIR PRICE FOR THE AMOUNT OF WORK ENTAILED! I WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMMEND LUIS LOZANO AND LA WATERPROOFING TO ANYONE. DANYA GATTONE"

"Sunday March 28, 2021 I had the pleasure of working with Aqua Doctors Plumbing at 1304 Eastview Drive Waukegan, IL 60085. At home there were two (2) small gas leaks at connection points with my furnace and the stove. They were the first to reply when I initiated the request for quotes on Saturday 3/27. They scheduled an appointment for the next day between 11-1 pm. They arrived at the beginning of the window of time they quoted (yippee). I was prepared to provide shoe covers due to the pandemic. They were respectful of safety measures and had their own shoe covers and masks in hand already. Bravo! Chris and Rob were very good at providing and explanation of services to be rendered. A consultative approach was used and appreciated. They did not talk down to you as the client/non-plumber in the room. They worked expeditiously and thoroughly resolving both issues. I also had them quote a larger job due to this good experience. I found them to be reliable and I’m sure you will too! Thank you, Aqua Doctors! Kind regards, Major J. Johnson (retired)"

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Sump pumps prevent basement flooding, reduce humidity, and protect against water damage.

In most cases, standard homeowners insurance policies do not cover damage from a sump pump failure or overflow. Coverage for water damage is often limited to sudden, unexpected events like a burst pipe that was not caused by negligence. To be covered for sump pump issues, you will likely need to purchase a specific rider, endorsement, or additional water backup insurance. If your insurer offers this type of coverage, they may require proof that your sump pump is regularly maintained.

Thankfully, you do have a few sump pump backup options in case it fails. One option is a battery-powered backup sump pump. Another option is using a portable backup generator as a power supply for your sump pump. Unlike a battery-powered backup which has limited power, a generator can run around the clock for as long as you need it.

Or you can opt for a water-powered backup pump, which uses your home’s water supply as a source of power. However, this may not be the best option if you find your house frequently has low water pressure.

The cost to repair a sump pump ranges from $400 to $550, depending on the extent of the repair and your location. Minor repairs, like fixing a switch or replacing a float, can cost just a few hundred dollars. However, more significant issues, such as motor replacement or addressing electrical problems, may cost closer to $550. Keep in mind that regular maintenance can help prevent costly repairs, and if a sump pump is beyond repair, a full system replacement ranges between $650 and $1,400.

Grinder pumps alone cost $300 on average. The average cost to install a new grinder pump is between $2,000 and $4,000, including the pump and labor. This price can also change based on the exact type of grinder pump you choose, labor costs in your area, and the power system your home currently has.
