Small jobs welcome

"Very professional and honest, would absolutely hire again. Not only did they provide great work for a reasonable rate, (especially compared to some others I spoke with) they cleaned up afterwards and were very friendly. One of those contractor/specialists you actually feel like you can trust not to take advantage. Would absolutely hire again, and recommended to my father in law for projects at his house."

"Our master bathroom remodel was just completed in Nov 2025 by Fernando & Chris. They both did a fantastic job and we are highly satisfied with the end result. We appreciated their professionalism, flexibility, quality of work, and attention to detail. We also valued their consistent work ethic and daily clean up. They offered some great suggestions that helped the room look even better than we had originally envisioned. The project was completed on time and on budget. They were genuinely pleasant, respectful, and wonderful to work with from start to finish. We would certainly recommend using them in the future."

"Can’t say enough great things about Jaime and his work product! We hired Jaime to remove a door + frame and dry wall and paint the area afterwards— the door was a very bizarre door that led to the master bedroom closet. Jaime and his helper also assisted us with hanging two large items. Their work on all three tasks was flawless and so reasonably priced. Moreover, Jaime was incredibly friendly, thoughtful, considerate, punctual and reliable. We’ve been interacting with a lot of contractors in our new home, and he’s been one of our favorites to work with. We will definitely be reaching out to him for assistance with other projects in the future, and we 10/10 recommend his services!"

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

Yes, handymen can offer quick responses to urgent issues like leaks or electrical problems.

While handypeople do not need to be licensed in many places, you should only hire insured pros for any home improvement work. Your handyperson should have active liability coverage that protects them and you in the case of an error or accident. Furthermore, if they have employees on your property, they should also have workers’ compensation insurance. If you hire an individual or a company that is not insured and they damage your property, have an accident while on the job, or become injured on your property without insurance, you can be held financially liable.

Many contractors prefer checks because they’re easy to track and have no associated fees. However, many also accept credit cards (though they might add a fee to cover their processing costs).

There are a few advantages to hiring a handyperson as a contractor, namely that they will likely charge less for their services since they don’t have as much overhead. A handyperson might also have more flexibility and be more involved in your specific home project, so you can communicate with one person instead of a subcontractor team.

You can find a reliable handyperson by looking at professionals in your area and ruling out companies with poor reviews online. Next, check each handyperson on the Better Business Bureau to see if they have a history of complaints and rule out those that do. Finally, you can contact each handyperson to ask the following qualifying questions:

  • What is your hourly rate?

  • Are there any jobs you can’t tackle?

  • Are you fully insured?

  • How many years of experience do you have?

  • Do you have references I can contact?
