"After the big spring rains, water began seeping into my basement at several locations. I could see tree roots encroaching on the sump pump and assumed that drain tile was clogged resulting in water pressure strong enough to seep through the joint between the foundation wall and the floor. Tim explained that tree roots should be killed off with copper sulfate and that seepage was likely the result of cracks in the foundation wall that are covered up by the drywall. He said a single leak can appear in multiple locations as it travels along the 2x4's anchored to the floor. We talked about how I could go about finding cracks. He showed me the machine he would use if I decided to have him clear out the drains and warned that the silt and debris may tear up my sump pump. His focus was on helping me understand what my options are, not selling me a service I may not need and for that I'm grateful. I will definitely call him back when the time comes."

"Plumb-It staff were very professional and timely. They easily identified the problems and remedied them quickly. They perform high quality work at a fair price. They also went above and beyond the norm in their job clean up. I hate when service providers leave the place a mess, so this was a very pleasant surprise. I have recommended this company to several friends, and we have all been extremely satisfied. I would definitely use them for all future plumbing needs."

"Woytek is honest, responsive, professional and has very good taste. I would highly recommend him for a kitchen remodel. His quote was very reasonable compared to other quotes. Woytek goes above and beyond when it comes to professional service; it was not uncommon for him to accompany me to pick a faucet or counter top. He had an array of cabinet choices and he has relationships with helpful and good quality vendors. The project took longer than intended, but I hear that is fairly common with construction."

"I called four different plumbers. The first plumber gave me a $5,500 estimate.  When I described the job to Flo-Maxx they sent someone out and gave me a $2,250 estimate which I thought was great. They explained everything thoroughly to me so I would understand what they'd be doing and I thought that was good.

"We worked with Jakubek to remodel two bathrooms in our property and refinish hardwood flooring. Both aspects turned out wonderful. They are friendly and great to work with. They provided ideas for updating the existing space to make it fresh and modern. They gave guidance on where to look for tile and directed us to the best materials for the project. Excellent workmanship and attention to detail. Positive experience - have already gotten quotes for additional work - will absolutely use them again!"

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

Testing is crucial to identify harmful asbestos fibers common in building materials from older properties, ensuring safe environments and health.

The signs of asbestos exposure are often subtle and may not appear for many years, or even decades, after initial contact. This long latency period is one of the primary dangers associated with asbestos.

When symptoms do manifest, they can include:

  • Shortness of breath

  • A persistent, dry cough

  • Chest pain or tightness

  • Fatigue

  • Wheezing

  • Weight loss

  • Difficulty swallowing

  • A dry, crackling sound from the lungs when breathing

These symptoms are non-specific and can be mistaken for other respiratory conditions, making diagnosis challenging. Prolonged exposure can lead to serious diseases as the asbestos fibers cause scarring and inflammation in the lungs. These conditions include asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma.

Due to the vague nature of early symptoms, regular medical check-ups are crucial for anyone with a known history of asbestos exposure, particularly in an occupational setting. If you suspect asbestos is present in your home, a professional inspection is recommended.

Asbestos testing is conducted by collecting samples from materials suspected to contain asbestos and analyzing them in laboratories for confirmed presence.

Services test for allergens, mold, VOCs, and carbon monoxide levels to ensure a healthy indoor environment.

Unfortunately, home inspections do not check for asbestos because of the liability factor involved. That’s why you should hire a trained professional with specialized equipment to test for it.

They will inspect all areas of the home and take samples of various materials to test. Opting for an asbestos inspection can prevent the risk of exposure to this hazardous material and save on costly repairs that may be required.
