"Called company on Monday and got an appointment for an inspection on Wednesday. That following Monday, the technician arrived and went through each step is sealing off the concrete foundation to the water leak. The fix worked well and was put to the test with the recent record rains. Not one drop of water came into the basement."

"My husband and I had a wonderful experience with The Real Seal in July 2024. They fixed a bowing foundation and waterproofed the basement for future finishing. Their team was prompt, respectful, organized and thoroughly educated us on the drainage tile system, installation process and prevention. Thank you, Real Seal for being the flawless first step to our dream basement/family space!"

"I called Charlie due to a leaking water heater I discovered at one of my rental properties.  The heater was leaking badly and causing some flooding in the unit.  Charlie came over at around 7pm to get the system to where it would stop leaking, so that the necessary work could be performed the next day.  The leaking water heater was unfortunately boxed in behind another water heater, and there were many original installation problems to deal with.  Lack of proper shutoff valves at the water and gas made everything a lot more complicated.    Charlie came back the next evening and worked until around 12:30 am to ensure that everything was properly hooked up and confirmed personally that all of the tenants were getting water again. He met me the next day and thoroughly described the operation of the heaters and offered to return to help work out some pressure problems caused by the old piping in the building.  The work was quality, and he was very pleasant to deal with.  I plan to call Charlie again in the future if I have any other plumbing or HVAC issues."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Almost any kind of home can have a wine cellar or cabinet installed. You’ll need an area where a concrete floor can be put in, along with the necessary insulation, climate control, and ventilation systems. If you think of yourself as an aspiring sommelier, an underground wine cellar may be ideal, but it will cost significantly more.

What you choose to install really depends on your budget and how many bottles you’re looking to store.

Not all window wells have a formal drain, but they all require a method for water to flow away from the window. Some wells are connected to an interior or exterior drain tile, which is the most effective solution. Others rely on a deep layer of gravel or crushed stone that allows water to filter down into the soil.

However, if a window well lacks a proper drainage system, it can lead to basement seepage, costly water damage, mold growth, and potential foundation damage. This is especially true in areas with heavy rainfall or expansive soil.

If your window well doesn't have a drain or is not draining quickly enough, you have a few options. For gravel-based systems, the stone may have compacted and needs to be improved. For a more robust solution, you can hire a plumber or window installer to connect the well to a drainage system. This can also be a DIY project using a shovel or auger.

Start by calling a plumber if you want to install a sump pump battery backup. Talk to them about your situation and needs. Sometimes, electricians or waterproofing contractors will install a battery backup, and in that case, the plumber you call should be able to point you in the right direction.

Signs include persistent dampness, mold or mildew presence, musty odors, and visible water stains. If any of these occur, it is advisable to contact a professional for an inspection.

In most cases, yes, because the large majority of basements leak or will have moisture issues at some point, and waterproofing methods can mitigate that risk or eliminate it entirely. Plus, water and moisture issues can be quite problematic, as they can lead to mold growth, rotting of building materials, structural damage, poor indoor air quality, increased electric bills, and other problems.
